I don't like holidays that fall on a weekend

I think Sat. and Wed. are the worst day for holidays.
Wednesday's, you have to work leading up to the day and then go back.
Saturday's, everyone still has to work till friday, celebrate Saturday, and you still have to do all your household chores on Sunday.

And then when you retire you will find that you don't get the holidays as paid time off. :duck:

Wednesdays I don't mind... I kinda like two-day work weeks :) But Saturday and Sunday are hard.

Lovin it here too, as when a holiday falls on saturday or sunday DH gets either friday or monday off and a long weekend.

DH got yesterday off since the 4th fell on a Saturday. I'm a teacher so my summers are off anyway.

My partner had off on Friday (as it seems that most companies did).

I have off on Monday. Because of this, it just seems like a typical weekend to us.

friday was the official federal fourth of july holiday in the US. So the whole weekend is a bonus party!

I am loving this fourth~!

I admit I really hate all holidays at this point in my life, especially the 4th of July. I am an hourly employee, so any holiday where my work is closed basically means one less day to be paid, so I am guaranteed a short paycheck for that week. Yay. :(

I especially hate the 4th of July - usually it's hot, boring, lonely, nothing is open, nowhere to go and nothing to do. I just usually mope around the house. :confused3

Can't wait to return to work on Monday! No, I am not kidding!

Well I had Friday off, so it's a long weekend ... YAY! Did my chores and groceries and stuff on Friday so today is a bonus! To me, it felt like Fri was Sat and yesterday's holiday was spent watching a parade and bbq'ing and being with family ... Just like a Sunday afternoon! Now if we hadn't had Friday off it would be different but ... we did! :thumbsup2

Most people around here had Friday off for the 4th holiday. If it falls on a Sunday they typically have Monday off. I prefer a weekend holiday because you get a 3 day weekend out of the deal.

For those who have a 3-day weekend, wouldn't you prefer though that the holiday was on Friday or Monday and you still had your regular weekend?

Friday may have been the federal holiday, but I work for a bank and it's against federal regulations to be closed (scheduled) two regular business days in a row. So Friday was not a bank holiday.

But even if it had been... I liked it much better last year. Friday was the holiday... and then you still had the weekend.

You don't get holiday pay? Hmmm... everything around here was open yesterday, at least for a good part of the day.

Most people that work "office" type jobs usually get the Friday before off if on a Saturday or Monday after if it falls on the Sunday.

My wife and I (and all of our working family) were all off on Friday.

Yeah, he currently works a 9/80 where he gets every other Friday off. We're hoping 4th of July weekend next year is a Friday off so he'd get Friday & Monday off. 4 Day weekend!!

I don't really care what day the holiday's on, but I kept on thinking yesterday was Sunday and today was Monday. I'm a whole day ahead of myself.
