I was going to post these photos on the photo of the day thread, but I think they deserve their own thread.

I saw this fellow go around our loop on March 16. When I saw him, I probably stood there with my mouth open, collecting flies. But, I had the presence of mind to go and grab the camera, and he came around again.

I just don't know what to say about this:

I wonder if he is using the dining plan...........:rotfl: all that is missing is the refill mug...

I'm not so sure what you see as amazing about this. Although Disney doesn't allow them as such, Segways CAN BE a disability conveyance. My hubby has bad knees. Standing doesn't bother him, but walking does. I know folks with a bad back that they are most comfortable standing up or laying flat on their back and the movement of walking hurts, and sitting for long periods hurts, so a standard ECV would not help them.

(Or was this a non pet loop and the guy shouldn't have had his dog there??)

Then again, this was probably just a rich guy with a toy.

I guess that I really am not sure what I found so fascinating about this either. :confused3

The thing the photos don't show, is that this guy was going fast- the dog was running!

I guess it was just something that I certainly don't see at home. A Segway, a giant poodle (I think that is a poodle, right?). That's all. I just found the whole thing to be interesting. Maybe I need to get out more?

Interesting. :) I can't do the Segways for long, I don't like just standing when I can be moving. But I know they are good for some people who cannot walk!

The part of the photo that makes me gape is how crowded the loop appears!! What loop is it?!

Guess my memory is fading but I just don't remember being sandwiched in on our last FW stay (which was in a cabin-type tent in the 800 loop). Seems we were much more spread out. Is this just a crowded loop or was it extra busy at that time?

Or...is it just me?!!

I think it's loop 1700 or 1600. Can't remember but it's when the Prevost rolled in. I saw at one of the sites as I was drooling over the 1.5M MH's. Then we went back to our little TT surround by all these MH.

Too cool, wonder if my yorkie and bassett hound could keep up!:lmao: My 16 year-old is dying to try a Segway! Maybe I could get him to walk the dogs that way??? :confused3

insider tip......segways are coming to the fort.....more to come in the next weeks

I know you can take a Segway tour of Epcot still, right..? So they will have "tours" around FW..? Not without a cup holder on one of those things..!

I hope that if the Segway peters out, that the dog doesn't have to pull him and the Segway back to his camper!

FW is a good place for Segways. The BW would be too. Though I don't want too many of them blocking me. :)

My husband has bad knees and a Segway in that order. We fly to FW and stay in a cabin if we could safely transport theSegway we would bring his in a minute. FW is the only place at WDW that they are allowed. My husband belongs to DRAFT which has been trying to get the Segway designated as a handicaped aid, so that it would be allowed in the parks as well as other places like a ECV is. At the Segway class in epcot they tell you how safe they are but then say that it would be unsafe in the parks. I have had some run ins with ECV drivers who did not know how to drive them, so you would think that they would allow experienced Segway owners that need them to use them. :confused3 Well maybe some day. In the mean time he can at lest join me and the dog for walks around our neighborhood.:cool1: Thank you OP for posting that picture.:thanks: Maybe next Jan we can find a way to bring his. Until then spring is almost here in MN and his will get a lot of use.

I've tried a Segway - not sure how they are any worse than ECV's? At least other people can see you coming, and don't see you first when they get hit in the foot.:)

(There are people who know how to use an ECV - and there are people who don't!)

These photos were taken right in front of our site this past weekend- site 858.

This is a good illustration of how there are pluses and minuses on each loop. We love the 800 loop, and have asked to be placed there on our last few visits. Most of the sites are spacious and deep, but on this particular stretch, which is from around site #860 to the end of the loop, things do get tight. Our site was great- as you can see in the first photo, the sites are very spread out here. As you can see in the second photo, the sites get closer to each other around the comfort station.

Other loops are like this too. There are some sites on the 300 loop that are real close together.

On our next visit, we will probably just take the luck of the draw. It is fun to stay on different loops, and we have often been pleasently surprised by taking what FW assigns to us.

Looks like a happy dog to me! I'd love a Segway, but until I get one I use my bike the same way with my 12 year old corgi. Several years ago I had to ride him all around 1600-1900 to get him tired. Now just one lap around 1700 has him panting, but he's happy. I'm hoping he hangs in there until our next trip at the end of April.

Good Heavens -- Jerry Garcia hasn't passed over to the other side after all. I wonder if Elvis is back at the camper chillin' out. :lmao:
