I am having a hard time deciding what coat/jacket to bring with me. From the long range forecast so far, it is only going to be in the 60's during the day. Which means its going to be cool/cold in the evenings. I am cold sensitive, so I really need to be warm in the evenings. The weather is so unpredictable. I plan on bringing a lot of layers, but I am still wondering about the coat. Its going to be cold in Pittsburgh when I leave and probably when I get home, so I think I am going to wear my down jacket to the airport and pack at least a windbreaker, but I am debating do I need to bring my fleecy jacket? Advice?

TIA,
Kim

We are leaving in 9.5 days.

I'm not cold senstive and and I am definitely bringing my fleece jacket. I was there last December. I didn't always need it but was very glad I had it.

I'm a light packer so I would say don't pack your fleecy jacket. You can always add more layers underneath your down jacket or windbreaker.

I would also pack a pair of gloves. I've been in the MK during a few cold evenings and the one thing I wish I had were a pair of gloves. It seems my hands get cold first and can never warm up even inside pockets.

Happy Packing!!! :)

I was there last week and temps were in the 60's during the day and 40's in the evening. During the day I wore 3/4 length sleeve shirts, capris and a sweatshirt (which I could tie around my waist when it got warmer). For the evening I added my lands end fleece jacket (over top of the sweatshirt) and I was fine. I did add gloves and a headband for the evenings if I was going to be out late (like at MVMCP). I wore my fleece jacket to fly there and back (I also live in PA) and I was fine. Hope this helps and have a great time.:santa:

Hey -this was my email from last week's email show! I am glad this came up as a topic here since the answer wasn't really clear other than to just go to weather.com and see what it says. I guess I was looking for what people are normally wearing at this time of year, because just reading that it is the low 50s at night doesn't tell me much. I think I am going to bring shorts and long pants, short sleeves and a jacket, and know that if I really need something else, there are plenty of shopping options available!

i just got back yesterday, in the daytime i was just wearing teeshirt and shorts and found that enough but int he eveings i was putting my fleece lined hoddie on and the boys were wearing trousers and jumpers.

My brain's working overtime on my packing list for my quick trip! I'm doing my best to go carry on only since i'm only going to be there for 2 nights. I'm thinking that i'll bring capris for the day time, 2 pairs of jeans/khakis for evenings, and then layer my shirts. I'll have to bring a jacket as leaving from Indiana mid-December will be COLD!! I've just got to decide if i'm brave enough to wear capris to the airport...my poor legs will probably freeze!!

I assume that I still need to worry about sunscreen though, right? I'm pretty fair-skinned and don't want to fry!! :)

I am very cold sensitive. Bring the fleece! We were in WDW during Dec of 2005 and I was cold. I would wear my fleece in the early morning and evening hours. On our last day I broke out my North Face jacket. DH and DD were fine with just layering but they never get cold. :thumbsup2

And yep, I'll probably be wearing my coat at the TSM meet!

My DS and I were there that December also (2nd week) and I about froze my watoosie off. I had promised him we'd go swimming if it ever hit 50 degrees . . . and it did - barely. :scared: The things a mother does for her children.

I needed a windbreaker for the days and a warm winter type coat for the night it was in the low 50's with no sun brrrrr cold for me and I am from the northeast. So that is what I would suggest. You can add long sleeve shirts or sweatshirts under the windbreaker no need for a fleece.

I planned on the gloves and a hat. I am a chronic over packer, so I guess I will see what Accuweather.com and weather.com say and see how much the suitcase(s) weigh. A couple of wool cardigans will definitely be in there.

I vote for fleece! Fleece is pretty light to carry but keeps you pretty warm. In these days of luggage weight restrictions, I try to pack light, but substantial items. And layers, of course.

I'm going on 4 days (YAY) for 6 nights and I'm bringing 3 pairs of shorts (wishful thinking), a t-shirt per day, 4-6 pairs of capris and/or pants/jeans, 2 sweatshirts (from previous December WDW purchases) and a windbreaker. I know that the windbreaker will fit over the sweatshirts so that is my plan. From the NE, I know that I can stand temps in the 40s in that garb so I'm all set.

Have fun!

I would also pack a pair of gloves. I've been in the MK during a few cold evenings and the one thing I wish I had were a pair of gloves. It seems my hands get cold first and can never warm up even inside pockets.

If anyone has issues wth cold hands, I recommend Hot-Hands. Little packets slip inside your gloves to keep your hands warm. Lots of drug stores and sporting goods stores sell them. They are also great for sporting events.

I'm in PA and wearing my ski jacket every day here these days.

For my trip to MouseFest... I'm leaving my ski jacket in my car. I park at an offsite lot w/ a shuttle to the airport so I can deal w/ the cold for the 30 seconds between vehicles! I don't want to have to deal with a bulky jacket on the plane or once I get to Florida.

Instead I'll wear a fleece and use that for the cool evenings. I'm wearing my Minnie Mouse sweater for MVMCP so that night I won't need the fleece! :thumbsup2

We were at WDW during the first week of December last year and were fine w/ just long sleeves and jeans at night.

Just 15 more days until Mousefest starts! :cool1: :yay: :cheer2:
