I don't get the whole "Nick and Jessica" thing

Maybe I'm just out of the loop, as they say. But this evening, when I clicked onto my local Philly news station (NBC), this is one of the top stories!!

Now, I feel bad when any marriage breaks up, but does their marrage really warrant headlines? I mean, this nonsense has only been on the front page of every supermarket rag for the last few months!! Is it REALLY a surprise to anyone that they broke up??

You know, it's probably a slow day for news, they have to talk about something. BTW, I watched my late local news the past two nights. Tuesday night, it was announced that Nick Lachey filed a report with police because he lost a $35K watch while staying at Delano hotel on South Beach. Last night, the reporters announced that it Nick had found his watch in a suitcase and the search for the $35K watch had been called off. The two reporters just looked at each other while reporting this, it was priceless.

Unfortunately, when you have your own television show based solely around your marriage (Nick & Jessica ~ Newlyweds), your divorce becomes headline news.

From what I heard, she broke up w/him via email!? They had no pre-nup, so he will prob. get loads of cash since she was the major bread winner!

The only reason they are news is that we pay attention to it. If we didn't watch the shows and didn't buy the magazines with them in it, no one would put them as the top story. Its news because we made it that way.

Count me as one who made it that way. I love reading all the gossip and watching the shows...makes my life seem so much less depressing! Just shows how being rich and famous doesn't make you happy all the time. I'll take being poor and a nobody anyday.
