OK I was reading that other post about the free dining & got COMPLETELY LOST...can you explain it to the SLOW learners here on the board (ME!?!?).
Where I got lost was the buying a ticket for the 1 day & getting the free meals......so what I'm thinking is you can go to Disney 1 day & Universal or shopping or visit family or anything you heart desires but EAT for free at your hotel!?!?!? :confused3 :confused3

here's how it works... book a vacation package at any disney resort and get free meals (one table service, one counter service and one snack per person over 3yo per day) for the number of nights that you stay... a vacation package includes room and tickets, but the number of days on the ticket does not have to correspond to the number of nights you are staying (can be more, can be less)...

what you read about people buying only a one day ticket is typically an annual passholder who doesn't need any tickets but has to buy something ticket-like (LOL) in order to be eligible for the free dining... of course, if you are not interested in wdw theme parks and just want to stay at the resort and eat all your meals at hotels (LOTS of great offerings, btw, because you cannot eat at theme park restaurants w/out admission tickets), buying a one day ticket also works...

enjoy!

The people who have mentioned getting a 1 day ticket in order to qualify for the free dining plan are those who already have tickets or who have APs. The free dining is only available as part of a package that includes tickets and hotel. You only need to buy a 1 day ticket in order to qualify but your hotel stay can be 5-6-7 nights and you'll have the free dining plan for all of those days/nights. Make sense?

so THEN we can enjoy other things in Orlando & just eat at our hotel or the other resorts out there...hmmmm...sounds awfully nice......

yep, using your wdw resort as your "home base" for sleepin' and eatin'! realize also that some meals take two of your credits at a time (Hoop Dee Doo Revue dinner show comes to mind) so if you do eat some meals offsite while doing other things, you will be able to "use up" your credits and not have them leftover...

also, don't know if you are flying or driving, but really either way, it was sugg'd somewhere (mousesavers.com i believe) that any leftover counter service meals can be "to go" food for your trip back home, again, so your dining credits don't go to waste... snack credits can be bottled water or drinks for the trip home as well (if you have any leftovers)
