If they aren't going to make sure the staff are at the high performance standards required for a particular location???

I am closely following the WCC thread started by Zurgswife, as I am also very sad to hear that Bobby is leaving and about all the changes being made.

But even before that there have been lots of threads/comments/complaints about the wait staff at places like WCC and 50's Primetime not getting into the "show".

That should be a JOB REQUIREMENT! I know everyone has a bad night, but if I go to see Festival of the Lion King I don't want to see one of the Monkey's just standing on the side because he is "having a bad day and doesn't feel like performing". If I am at CRT I don't expect Cinderella to tell my kid to "Go away and leave me alone" because she is having a bad day. It is the same at these restaurants. Disney has gone to all the trouble to develop these concepts and carry through with the decor and such. Why can't they carry through in hiring CM's that will carry the theme? When I go to 50's PrimeTime for the 1st time this Sept I will be VERY unhappy if I get a lackluster server. And my tip will reflect that--I am NOT going for the food--I am going for the atmosphere and theme. The food is just necessary so we don't starve!

If they have decided to "tone things down" at WCC then they may as well just do away with the entire theme. Make it a plan BBQ restaurant like I can get across the street at home. Of course, it won't get my business but it is better than just half- *&$ing a theme and disappointing many. Same with PrimeTime--if they aren't going to hire and insist the servers join the "show"--even on a bad night, then don't bother to have it at all. Make it a Diner, sell food and hope that the food is good enough to draw families in.

I realize that servers like Bobby are one in a Million and finding those that are qualified to serve food and have the proper personality to carry out the theme can be more difficult than just hiring servers, but Disney needs to make the commitment to do it RIGHT!

Off my soapbox now.

I get what you are saying...if they are hired to "perform" they should perform..I'm not sure though if they are hired more to perform or merely as waiters and waitresses and happen to end up working at WCC of 50's Prime Time...and I believe the current the issue with WCC has more to do with bad location than servers not doing their jobs right...it's a very loud, rowdy place in an open lobby and under guest rooms. It makes for very noisy conditions in general. Guests have complained quite a bit from what I've heard from the "inside"... If they moved WCC to another location I'm sure there wouldn't be as big an issue as their has been...maybe they will do that. :confused3

it does sort of kill the magic thought doesn't it? If you go in expecting a good time and get a dud...

Have you seen the articles about how Disney is having trouble hiring people? Well when you pay around $7 to start out(yes there are some decent perks like tickets & merchandisde discounts) you aren't going to get the best of workers.Disney isn't alone Seaworld and Universal are also struggling to find people let alone good workers. it isn't spread through out all the workers- becuase obviously a performer is going to be paid more then say a housekeeper or cashier. This problem has slowly snowballed in the last 5-10 years where quality of workers has diminished greatly. When unemployment levels are low (like now) the # of quality people taking/working lower paying jobs isn't happenning much. :teacher:

They are having trouble getting help during the busy summer season especially for Concierge, lifeguards and housekeeping. They are offering a $1000.00 bonus for these positions.
$500.00 to be paid after 30 days of service, the rest at the end of August.

This may sound really silly, but I would LOVE to work at Disney. I'll be a cashier in the Emporium, scoop ice cream at the Plaza, be a character "bodyguard," ANYTHING! And I'd love every minute of it!

When DH and I retire, we are moving right to the Orlando area and getting jobs. I don't care WHAT I do at Disney - I'll be at Disney all the time spreading the magic for everyone else!

OK - that's like 20+ years away, but I can dream, right?
