Got an email this morning from WestJet that they are having a 65% off seat sale (book by Nov 26 for travel by Dec 20th, Tues, Wed, Thurs travel) and that my destination of choice was only $119 on way .....yah right...I plunked the dates in that I tought would be fun to take a quick trip down to see a friend and the closest they came was $169 up to more then $399 ONE WAY!! :sad2:

Where's the sale? Suppose this is another glitch in their reservation system? They shouldn't do this to me before my first cup of coffee....or maybe I shouldn't open emails before my second :surfweb:

Just means the "sale" seats on the flights you selected are sold out. Once the lowest priced fare seats are gone, the system keeps bumping up the price based on availability. WestJet was reported as saying they had a solid load rate for December, so I think the sale is to help with the balance of flights with lower load capacity remaining.

The thing I noticed today was that an add was in the newspaper this morning, but I received the e-mail after 10am .... would rather have an e-mail before the add goes to the paper.

In my case I worked out that in December a family of four could get airfare for less than $1,600 cdn taxes in .... not bad.

I received the email at 5:11am (Eastern Standard so only Newfoundland would have had a jump start) and checked flights at 7:20 am. No where in a two week period did they have a single seat at the advertised fare. Why even bother with the advertising? I'm mostly just venting anyway because a lot of other stars would have come into alignment for me to have been able to go anyway.....just mostly trying to find a "base line" price that I know I could comfortably afford a trip to Tampa by myself. I've had more coffee and am calmer now ;)

These deals are awesome if you can get them.

We are going to DL in Dec for $227 per person including taxes from Edmonton to LAX, direct flight ($68 one way plus taxes). I thought that was awesome, now they have the same flight for as low as $49 each way.

If you can get the deals they are amazing - just very limited though.

Good Luck.

When WestJet or Air Canada finally come down in price to where SouthWest is out of Buffalo then I'll be happy. For us under $800 for the 4 of us to fly down to Orlando is a deal. $1600++ keep coming down boys.

It's sad to think I can get pretty much half price for a flight in a different country and only adding 2 hours to my drive.

Did you have day of the week travel restrictions and did you book with AC or WJ? I booked our flight from Edm to LA in Feb on AC direct flight for $99 but not the return trip.
Waiting for a better deal.....:surfweb:

West Jet makes me furious. By the time I open my email, all of the sale seats are gone.
Then I go to Air Canada, and they always have open seats, for the same sale price as WestJet.
So as soon as you get an email from WestJet, go to Air Canada and compare!

You have a point ... I think next time I get the westjet email, I will do just as you suggest. Thanks! :flower3:

+1 for this! It seems Westjet always has a limited # of seats at the sale price when they run these ads, but AC usually matches the price, at least for a day or two!

I agree with some of the pp on here...whenever I see a seat sale on WJ and the seats are sold out I hover around the AC website almost guaranteed the AC flights will be price matched within 24 hrs...and they tend to offer more flights (depending on where your flying)..having said that though if you are fast enough you can grab some good deals ....one morning there was a fare for $139....there was a literally 10 min period WJ was offering one way to MCO from YYZ for $49..by the time I purchased was back up to $139

*Whew...I think I didn't let my anti-westjetness come through too much on that one* :rotfl:
