I don't get it---the swap meet attraction

We too went for the cheap souvenirs. My DS brought back key chains for his classmates (in addition to the insane amount he keeps on his backpack) but I also got great (cheap) postcards and magnets. We scored 7-shirts for $20 (and yes, they aren't the best quality but for $3 each...) I got some cute Hawaiian bags, beach towels; macadamia nuts of course too!
The best deal however was the H1 highway sign that my DH bought- he haggled with the guy and paid $60 for it, and when we got back to Aulani, he got a couple of offers from people who wanted to buy it! One guy even offered him $200! We said if it didn't end up fitting in our suitcase he'd consider it LOL! Luckily it fit - barely!
I think it's worth it to go to see the artisans alone- while a lot of it wasn't my "style" I can appreciate the amount of work and craftsmanship that goes into it - it was really cool to see. But yes, there is definitely a lot of "crap" but one man's crap is another man's H1 highway sign!

Because of my size of Hawaiian shirt I need, there is one guy who carries my size at the meet. He was cheap and we would buy all he had in my size. U till we found a store in downtown Honolulu who makes them, and has an online store. We have bought many from them, and we are heading back in 50 days in January. So maybe I'll be able to get more when I get there
