I don't get it....no availability for Oct 2014?

So, I was on the Disney website today checking out availability for a possible trip in early October 2014. However, many resorts such as WL and AKL are showing 'no availability' for standard rooms. Higher priced rooms are showing available. I have a difficult time believing that all standard rooms are booked more than one year ahead of time. Anyone know if they 'save' rooms and then release them later? I just don't get it...

Their website has been really quirky over the last few months. Check back late and you'll see availability.

It is the website. I have seen it with both rooms and I just had the same issue trying to get a lunch ADR at Les Chefs de France. It wasn't giving me open times for Dec 2014 rooms for the dates I wanted. Then for lunch in February 2014, it was saying Les Chefs de France was booked everyday. I finally got a bunch of times for one day, and then 15 minutes later, the day I really wanted started showing a lot of times, after saying there were NONE available for lunch. Not very comforting, but if you keep trying, they will appear.

I had the opposite issue today. Standard room rates were showing but deluxe & villas were not available. Quirky website.

That's pretty normal. Villas go to DVC owners first so they aren't open for cash bookings yet.

I am finding the same thing even now on the website for the October 2014 time frame - all STD rooms at AKL gone...also at the Contemporary. I wonder if calling would give me a different answer? The 'chat' said, if it's not there it's not available.

Their website isn't too slick -- it's the only thing at Disney that doesn't make your money magically disappear. I was set up for it to take my balance out of my credit card I had designated when I booked the trip. A week later, the website is still showing a balance due. I check my credit card, no activity. So, I manually tell them to pay themselves online. Next day, no activity, day after no activity, so I call and, sure enough, it hadn't gone through so I did it over the phone.

Can you imagine, Disney World not making money disappear?
