I ran into my third cousin and his wife today at a Sunday Brunch (haven't seen them in years) and they are going to Disney April 3rd for a convention, staying at the Swan and Dolphin. My mom told them I was going to Disney to, but not until May. So my cousin says...

"What are going to Disney for? Work?" and I said no and he said "Then why are you going to Disney?" .... again I don't know them very well...I said, I go every year, sometimes twice and his wife says "TO DISNEY? Why? There really isn't anything to do there." I asked if she had ever been and she said yes, she went once........in 1978! I said, well, it's a changed a little, I think you'll find things to do. She goes "Really? What do you recommend?" :faint: My sister actually burst out laughing, she told them to invite me over and I would give them a Disney tutorial. They looked at her like she was nuts.:rotfl: Of course I was seriously thinking about if they took her up on it. It truly pains me to let them go completely clueless. Now I'm itching to make them an itinerary. :rotfl:

that's hilarious, i would be falling all over myself trying to educate them!! :teacher:

I used to be one of "those" people. I just couldn't understand why someone would want to spend a week here.

As you can see I saw the light in 1995. :) :)

I often find that people who wonder why someone would go to Disney every year are the very same people who go to some other destination every year. It could be a beach, cottage, ... Personally I would last about two days at either place and then be looking for something to do. For me Disney is the place where I can do something new every day and never be bored. If someone's idea of a vacation is sitting around then Disney is wasted on them.

My first visit was in 1977. And there was nothing but undeveloped land around everything but the Magic Kingdom.

Apparently the woefully uninformed person really needs a good guidebook. I'd say the Passporter or the Unofficial Guides are a good choice. And if they do tour the parks, using the touring plans is going to save a lot of frustration.

If they don't have ADRs, they can always eat at the Swan or Dolphin. ;)

I thought about asking if they wanted my 2008 Passporter, but since they are leaving in 4 days, I can't imagine that it would help much...you know how that is, you can go from clueless to totally overwhelmed in no time flat! No WAY they could handle the UG. I feel pretty confident they have no ADR's made...cousin's wife asked if they could walk from their hotel to see that one big tree that have...I'm assuming she meant the Tree of Life, but am not totally sure. :rotfl:

My parents would bug me about going to Disney. The same people who went to Vegas regularly and on a cruise regularly. The last cruise my Mom booked- when she told me, I said - "ANOTHER CRUISE??" She got it. Now she doesn't question that I am doing Disney again.

Anything other than vague suggestions will likely be lost on them anyways...

I prefer "Disney enthusiast"...

I prefer Disney Geek, I am at one with my geekyness! :3dglasses :goodvibes

I had a very good friend of mine tell me yesterday that she saw Disney and all the theme parks as the hight of rubbish. I politely said 'well that's one person less in front of me for Soarin'!' :rotfl:

I have tried to 'educate' people before, but they don't really want to know (like my mothers boss who SWORE Disney parks were owned by Anhiester-Bush (sp?) :lmao:). However I am no longer ashamed of being a Disney geek, if people can't accept me the way I am, they can go take a running jump!

I fins it so sad that my family were playing a discussion game where the question was 'What question do you hate being asked the most?' and my mom said 'where are you going on holiday this year?' because people tease her! It's just sad! :sad2:

:rotfl2:
I was at a birthday party on Saturday when the dad of the birthday girl told me he was taking his daughter to WDW. I then asked him if he had a plan and he said no. He had heard that it was a small park and that our local Great America-Chicago was bigger:eek:
I made sure I heard correctly and asked him WDW, correct? He said yes the one in Florida.:rotfl2:

Do any of these people have internet access or are they still living out the 70's?:rotfl:

Totally love it!!! I would so be planning for them. Guess you can add me to that geek list too :rotfl:

Whenever someone mentions to me that they are going (or would like to go) to WDW, I tell them....

"The best info I can give you is to visit the DIS"

They reply "The what?"

"The DIS....Write this down....wdwinfo.com.....trust me on this"

:disrocks:

I can honestly say that I have had that conversation at least 4 times in the last month.

Yanno....

Last year I donated some of my points to our annual school auction. The PTO was thrilled but asked me if the points could come with an hour of time with me as the PTO knew I was a Disney aficionado! It was probably the nicest compliment anyone ever gave me!

After, a parent approached me and asked if she could pay me for time to help her plan! I told her, "Are you kidding, I would LOVE to just talk about it!" She now has plans to stay at Kevin and John's place with all kinds of great plans! I am thrilled to have helped!

So call them up and help them plan their Disney trip.
They will come back worshipping you!:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:
