I don't drink but I have a question about drinking from a keg

I used to drink keg beer when I was really young, but I always had it handed to me in a plastic, throw away cup. I didn't get glass like Kitty.

Are you talking about keg stands, when your friends hold your legs up high so you're almost vertical, and you drink directly from the keg??

The purpose: To get messed up faster and to boost your ego. Whoever can do a kegstand the longest is "God" <---direct quote from one of my older friends in college.

Some people have been known to punch a hole in the bottom of a regular 16oz can and drink the beer that way. The pressure in the can causes the beer to come out really fast and you have to drink it fast.

Now of course, there's also a beer 'bong' which works on the same premise- there's a funnel at the top of a hose about 2 feet long. The drinker puts their mouth over the hose while someone pours a beer down the funnel and tube. Again, drinking fast and large quatitities.

Of course, all of these things I read about in Encyclopedias.

it's called a keg stand, and it's a contest. The trick is, you put the end of your tongue on the tip of the nozzle, and it blocks the beer from coming out. That way you can make it seem like your keg stand is indefinite. Then you rule.

Yup - I've seen plenty of keg stands in my time. Drinking, or eating for that matter, upside down isn't difficult at all. But think of all those germs on the nozzle.

Oh my gosh supamaki! I'd be the idiot, drunken sot because I never would have thought to stick my tongue over the nozzle. But then again, thanks to thinking about all the germs that apnic mentioned, I never will! Ewwwwwwwww! ROTFLOL! Thank God I'm old and my kegger days are over! LOL!

I think I must have an updated encyclopedia then, because in mine they actually have name for that and it's called a "shotgun" and oddly enough they even go so far as to name the 16oz beverage a "tallboy". Thank God for that Encyclopedia, because I would've never known about that or the keg stands.

the important thing you need to remember when doing a shotgun is keeping the hole small. Many people think that the larger the hole, the more beer will come out. Not true! It's the pressure that sends it out, and the smaller the hole, the greater amout of force you will have behind the beer.
