Hi,

Any ideas are appreciated. I need to get night of joy tickets. I do not have a credit card, and disney says i cant send them a certified check, money order or anything!!! Are they on sale anywhere else????::MinnieMo ::MickeyMo

not even a visa check card? those work like credit cards as far as ordering things. If you don't have one contact your bank and get one.

Maybe a friend or relative could charge the tix for you and you could just pay them back?

Good for you! As far as your problem goes, how about one of those pre-paid cards? You can put a certain amount on them and them charge what you need.

Good luck!

You can def. buy tickets by mail for disney events. We bought our MVMCP tickets by calling CRO and getting the address. (this is how CRO told me to get them and it worked fine) I sent a money order along with my request for how many adults and what day we wanted to go the party. Added in the price of shipping and sent it out. 2 weeks later we had our tickets.

I'd suggest calling CRO though and getting the scoop on it. They were pretty helpful when I called.
Good luck!

Are you trying to make the rest of us jealous? This kind of blatant bragging should be reported;) If you have a checking account, contact your bank for a check-card(it's painless and fast). You could also purchase a Visa Bucks-type credit card. I believe Bank of America sells them: you could just google search pre-paid credit cards. Since you are already planning a trip to WDW, the pre-paid thing is a good idea. My daughter's friend took one of these cards to WDW when she went with us. It looks like a regular Visa and works like one, too. Her mother just walked into the bank, and paid the teller $500 cash, and that amount was "loaded" onto the card. I don't know how much the card itself cost...I'm sure it wasn't much. Just call your bank and ask if they offer anything like this. If that doesn't work, I've got a credit card you can have: the payment for it is due on the 30th of each month:p

do you happen to have a mall in your area managed by Simon's ?

Recently they started offering instead of paper mall gift certificates, a visa card. You go to the mall kiosk, ask for a mall gift card, it cost $1.50 to activate the card (I just bought one the other week, cost me the $20.00 I was giving as a gift + 1.50 fee) & you can put any amount starting at $20 on the card. Since it is an actual plastic card, with a scan strip & has the Visa logo & numbers, it can be used ANYWHERE that accepts visa. So in essence, its like a prepaid Visa, but only costs $1.50 to get it!

Oh, I just checked their website & looks like you can buy one online - but the service fee is $5.95 or $6.95.

you can also search for a Simon's mall near you.

Your reasons for not having a credit card are none of our business, but it really is a good idea to have one for emergencies if nothing else. Our last trip to DW, our van lost a transmission coming home. We incurred extra hotel bills, a large tow bill (they took a check) and repair bills. If the breakdown had been further from home, there would have been no way to pay for it without the credit card.

Even hospitals and doctors take credit cards if you have a medical emergency. When we went to Breckenridge last year our youngest suffered from altitude sickness and we were forced to seek medical care for him including oxygen. Some of it was submitted to the insurance, but some of it had to be paid upfront.

IMHO, everybody should carry a card of some sort for this sort of situation.

Yep...you need a check card. Mine's a Visa, and even though it comes straight out of my account, all businesses recognize it as a Visa. We have no other card, and we love it! I can't imagine life without it...go into the gas station to pay for gas???ugh!:hyper: Anyway, you might want to check it out!

I have to agree...your reasons are none of our business (even though I am curious:rolleyes: ) But I certainly cannot say good for you. In this day and age everyone should have one. You can choose not to use it but for goodness sakes what if there is an emergency...need plane tickets....or just tickets like you do now????? I'd at least get a check card for your current bank account! Otherwise what about mom/dad/brother/sister/grams? ....don't ask a friend that is a bit much pressure to place on a friend unless you have cash in hand!

Hi,

Thanks for all of your advice. I will call CRO again and just try to see if they will let me get tickets. Second I will look into a bank card. I didnt realize that it was seen as a credit card...I dont have a credit card anymore, cause of a bad experience where (much like the commercials on tv) someone stole my identity!!! It was a horrible experience!!! Thank goodness the person who did it was arrested (unfortunately it was after a long time when he had run up tons and tons of credit card bills). Eventually I do want to get another credit card, but after that experience, Im a bit scared to!!! you guys are great, thanks a ton, Wendy

I don't have a credit card and manage just fine. I do have 2 bank cards that can basically be used like credit cards anywhere and I just make sure I always have a sizeable cash reserve for "emergencies only"..

I don't like owing money- even short term.. My Dad always said, "Pay as you go...unless you're going for good.." He didn't believe in credit cards and lived his life quite comfortably without them..

It's a personal choice and everything I do is either cash, debit bank card or checks..;)

I wouldn't run out and get a credit card.. Just go to your bank and get a debit card..

Car Rentals can be quite an issue without a credit card. Just an FYI.

Also, when using your Debit Card, remember, WalMart will not take a MasterCard Debit card without a PIN number. So make sure you pay attention to the PIN you either select or receive with your Debit Card. (They will take a Visa Debit w/o a PIN).

Haven't had a credit card in 3 years and I'm doing just fine without one. ;) I've put about $700+ into my Jetta since Feb of this year and I've paid CASH for EVERY repair! :teeth:

DH has a debit/credit card and we do just fine with the one. I have the checkbook and always carry cash and everything works out just fine for us that way.

::yes::

Like Simon's CVS offers a prepaid Mastercard. They are loadable up to 2500.00.

I give them to my DS whois a college student, he feels like he has cc without worrying about messing up credit before he has job.

It looks like regular CC, and can be used to rent vehicles and register in hotels. And you can keep an eye on budget.

The car rental thing used to be an issue for people without CC's but at least 2 companies now accept debit cards and I've heard talk that more are considering acceptance as well.. Many people - especially those who have had bad experiences with CC's in the past - are shying away from CC's now and most businesses are taking note of that..

I still don't understand why Walmart is intentionally trying to inconvenience their customers with the MC Debit Card, but it's no big deal to use the pin# if I happen to be there.. Of course right now I won't step foot in our local Walmart because they're in the process of changing it over to a Super Walmart and it's an absolute mess! Went in for 3 items a few weeks ago and had to keep zig-zagging back and forth across the store to find them.. Asked the gal when the store was going to be done and she said "the end of the year" - to which I replied, "Great! I'll be back then!" :) Looks like I'll be shopping at Target for awhile - LOL..

Good for you! Last month I shelled out $500 in cash for bathroom tub/shower faucet repairs (actually had to go with a brand new set); having our septic pumped; and having our main drain lines jetted out.. It's paid for and over with.. Just the way I like it.. LOL

To hear others talk, I sometimes wonder how I've managed to muddle through the past 30 years or so without a credit card.. Guess I must be the exception to the rule - LOL...;)

About the only thing you CAN'T do with a debit/check card is rent a car, the rental companies want a "real" card in case the person runs away with the car or something. Some hotels don't like to guarantee rooms to them either, but most will.

Sorry about your bad experiance. With a pre-paid and/or a check/debit, you have more options without opening up as much to fraud.

At least two major rental car companies accept debit/check cards with no hassle whatsoever - and I've NEVER had a hotel turn down a debit card.. They want to rent the rooms out - not scare off their customers - LOL..;)

That is not true. Alamo, Dollar and Hertz (with a gold membership) are three that will off the top of my head. They have restrictions, but, they do rent to those with a debit card with Visa or MC logo.
The "preloaded" credit cards are treated as a debit card because, that is exactly what they are.
