I do/don't want to go to MNSSHP

We have a trip coming up in two weeks, September 9-17. Of those days almost three days will be spent at the MK but we have not yet purchased tickets to MNSSHP. We have attended the parties many times and one trip went two different nights.

But that's when tickets were just $39 each

Now at $71 each I just don't think the value is in it for myself and DW because:
1. The "free" candy is not that big a deal for us.
2. We are not into characters as this is an adults only trip.
3. Being there when crowds are lower and having so many days in the MK we should easily be able to do everything g we want at least once

So it comes down to the fireworks and the parade, basically. Do I want to spend the funds for those only.? Part of me would do it just so I could say I went to the party but another said says that's really spending money unnecessarily.

What would you do?

EDIT. After creating this thread I saw another one almost identical. Post away if you like and sorry for an almost double thread !!

I'm going on an all adult trip but it is really up to you personally. To me the Hocus Pocus stage show, parade, and fireworks are so worth it. The candy, characters, and rides are just all parts that make it even better.

We are skipping it this year. We've gone several years and I made the executive decision that unless they cut the number of people, it just isn't worth it for the candy and characters. We've seen the parade (it's awesome) and can catch the fireworks from many locations around the MK, so we are going to save the price of admission for the four of us. I'd be inclined to pay more if there were fewer people, but the crowd isn't worth it to me for that price.

I did it last year same week actually. It was so packed we decided to do rides and some candy stops then parade and fireworks. Honestly I liked the fireworks from outside the park better and was disappointed at the crazy lines to meet characters. Our children chose to ride empty rides instead. If you've done the party multiple times and only care about it so you can say you did it, I would skip it. Put the money towards something else. By the way, you definitely will be able to do a ton at MK in 3 days during this week.

We're going same time as you and skipping the party. As much as I love the party, its gotten too expensive. We're staying at Poly so we're going to watch the fireworks from the beach.

Should have posted that we are going to US /IOA adventure one day so I was thinking of using the funds to buy an a Express Pass there and getting more bang for the buck.

:dog2::dog2:Lines are long for candy...I don't go for candy...lines were short and we rode everything especially during the parade.

We're going this year because we've never been but based on what you've said I think I'd skip it if I were you. Maybe you could watch the fireworks from somewhere outside the park one night.

US/IOA won't be particularly busy but if you've only got one day and want to do most of it (including the new Kong ride) having the EP there could turn a good day into a great day.

May change our minds but for our mid oct trip we are not going... I'd love to go but with the price and travelling with 3 under 5 I doubt we'd get value for money going. If I was doing an adults only trip I'd do it for the parade, fireworks, different characters and quieter ride lines!

I vote get the express pass at universal! Especially with Kong....

If you've been many times before, I would skip it. The express pass is a good alternative. We managed both Universal parks in 1 1/2 days one very quiet February with them.

Me, I've never been to the party before so I'm mainly doing it next year because it's a new experience for me.

You can buy candy for a lot less than $79 and remember they have fireworks every night regardless if it's MNSSHP

DW made us do the party our first two trips. Never again. It just isn't worth the extra money. And it has gotten to be a pain to schedule around all the parties they schedule.

All the reasons I won't do the MNSSHP or MVMCP. Although the crowds have always been manageable when we have gone.

Price is the big issue the Christmas party is $99 this year before any discounts.

It wasn't that long ago when the parties were $39
