I'm ashamed to admit it but I dissed the Dis last night. Instead of reading the latest, I decided to start packing for our cruise next week!!! I can't believe we have less than 2 weeks to go!!! My stress level is definitely way up there but I'm very excited.

Any last minute packing tips from all you experts???

Pack what you think you'll need, then when you're done take half of it out. Close your suitcase and don't look in there again until you're unpacking in your stateroom! ;)

Seriously....don't overpack. Mix and match outfits....don't pack too many shoes, etc. Those bags get heavy fast. You'll also need room for souvenirs! :teeth:

HAPPY SAILING! :sunny:

Not an expert, but I definitely agree with not overpacking. I am notorious for that - even when I think I'm underpacking I'm still overpacking! Mix & matching is definitely the way to go.

Have a wonderful trip!

I just returned from the 4/17 Eastern and this is what I learned: 1. I packed way too much, especially "nice" clothes. I definitely brought too many shoes. 2. I didn't need the overthedoor holder for bathroom supplies. Putting all your bathroom needs in a big 2 1/2 gallon ziploc bag and storing them on the floor or on the low shelf provided in each bathroom did the trick. 3. I did need the extension cords and the plug adaptors. 4. I did need seasick medicine. 5. I'm glad I put the tips in envelopes before going on the cruise so I didn't have to think about it when the time came. 6. You really need a sweater or light coverup as it does get chilly in the ship 7. I used the clothespins to hold the curtains shut 8. I didn't need the flashlight because the light that comes in from the hallway door was adequate for seeing my way to the bathroom. 9. Most of all, don't forget that camera.

Can you believe how close we are??!!!! I freak out a little more each day! LOL! I definitely overpacking, but I'd rather be safe than sorry. I know we'll be changing clothes a couple times each day, and I have no intention of doing laundry!! Heck..I got the luggage, might as well fill 'em up!

I just went to Target and bought my small toothpastes, small bottles for shampoo for the kids and spray sunblock (for the braids!). I can't wait!!

Thanks for the tips. I do have a couple of questions though.

1. Would a power strip do or do we really need an extension cord?
2. Maybe a stupid question but, what are the plug adaptors for?

I brought along a cheap 10 pack of wire hangers. There were 4 of us and the extra hangers came in handy!

Extra disposible cameras, I didn't want to take my good camera off the ship.

Enjoy!

Dittos on the unpack half!!!!! I don't know if you are shoppers but we packed all toiletries in a "carryon" suitcase, threw out all left overs Saturday morning before disembarking. (Shaving cream, tanning lotions, toothpaste, razors, shampoos etc.) You would be surprised how buck space that opened stuff takes up......plus what a mess when it reopens!!!

We throw out all the leftovers, too! It really clears up a lot of space!

As we were repacking after CC after our 11/30/03 Eastern sailing I kept thinking "why am I putting this almost empty bottle on tanning oil in a zip lock? It's snowing back home!" As a matter of fact we tossed tooth brushes, paste etc.

Here's my clothing tip for the males in the group when the weather isn't to hot and humid (ie - doesn't work in the summer time).

The polo shirt you wear to dinner Saturday can become your shirt for Sunday until dinner. Your shirt for dinner Sunday becomes your daytime shirt on Monday, etc. etc. etc. You kinda have to work through this for the entire week because of Formal and Semi-formal nights (dress shirt at a minimum and you probably don't want to be wearing that around the ship during the day). Also need to take in account the types of excursions and the days you will be doing them.

Before figuring this out for myself, we would pack 2 sets of clothes for each day (daytime and evening wear). We are able to reduce the amount of clothing by at least 25% by doing this (and it is pretty easy).

I know it is a vacation but, DW and DDs the last 3 sailing used "the laundry". Mostly for swim suits and t-shirts. You know DDs 14 and 12 have their "favorite" outfits. Last sailing we did 2 nights at WDW before our 7 night sailing DW wanted to wash some things when she had some free time so she didn't have to do it all when we got home.
