Just booked 3 nights in November for DDs 6th birthday!!
It will be a surprise for DD and DSs 1st trip!!!

So so so excited!! :cool1: i think this will make up for her missing disney on ice because we caught swine flu, which was her birthday present this (last) year.

So myself, Dp (Shane), Dd (Jem) and Ds (Jimmy) will go to Dublin on November 6th (the day after her birthday) on the premise of staying over and going to the zoo on the monday.
We'll have an early start on the monday and will ''spontaneously'' decide to go watch airplanes take off!!! And then board one!!

I think our trip coincides with the fireworks plus we get to visit santa and see fantillusion. Lots of firsts on this trip but shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! its a secret!!!:banana::banana:

yey thats fantastic. i would love to do a surprise trip

im terrible at keeping secrets so i just hope it works out!!

we had a conversation about which hotel jem would like to stay in if we were to return (a long long time away) and she said SL cause its being done up in a Bambi theme so thats where we'll stay. Have booked Cheyenne at 30% but will upgrade to SL if we get 40% offers or if the 30% is back on. Im going to buy a couple of small bambi bits for her birthday (got an audio book in easons for €2.99) and will pick her up a bambi plush on my march trip (and a thumper for jimmy) which we'll give to them when we get to the airport :)

Im worried that she'll know as soon as we get to the hotel in dublin but i think i'll manage to lie my way out of it :goodvibes
her face is going to be a picture!!

Best of luck with keeping it all a secret - I did it once for my DD, it was totally worth all the stress and feeling ready to burst to see the look on her face :rotfl::goodvibes!

im so excited!! its not for ten months and im dancing around like a loon!!:banana::banana:

think ill skip the meal vouchers and apply for shareholders instead

Congrats on booking, you must be so excited!
Definitely dont bother with meal vouchers, shareholders is way better. You get the added bonus of Salon Mickey, shop discounts, and can eat where and what you want. We spent a lot over our 6 days in November, we counted up that we saved over 200 euros due to shareholders card! :woohoo: (i included about 10 euros for each salon mickey visit too as we each had a snack and a coffee)
Good to see I'm not the only one booking provisionally and planning to upgrade, cmon Disney give us 40% :wizard:

How very very exciting!!! You will be able to keep it a secret:)

I know one year for Thanksgiving I kept WDW a secret. We drove 7 hours to get there without them having a clue (they were 5, 3 and 1). They fell asleep in the car and the 3yo must have woken up. As soon as she saw Epcot she was bouncing out of her seat with excitement. It was a great memory for all of us:)

I have yet to suprise them with a plane ticket. Perhaps one day as my son is dying to see a Tottenham game.

Honestly, I don't know you or your daughter, but I am so excited for you both!! What a great suprise:):woohoo:

7 hours!! thats some drive!!
i love when DIS excitement rubs off, i think thats why im so hyper - just reading TRs, it would cheer anyone up!

I got the idea from you Lola!!!
The next offers are released soon arent they??

Well the current one ends January 31st, I'm keeping everything crossed for a new one within a week after that!
I keep saying that I want to try different hotels, but when the chance to go back to HNY comes up I can't say no :rotfl: if they bring back 40% i think it will be an extra £9 to upgrade from SL to HNY, I would be silly not to ;)

Congratulations! Sounds like a very special birthday surprise!! Good luck keeping it a secret. Enjoy all the planning while you wait!:banana::banana::banana:

How exciting with all that will be going on when you'll be there too!

We're doing a surprise trip next month for dd's 6th birthday, we booked in June and it's amazing I've managed to keep it secret. As it's getting closer it's getting harder, I'm constantly on the verge of saying "When we're in Di ...... ummmmmm" :rotfl:

yaaaaayyyy!!!! How exciting!

I am having similar thoughts about a November trip for DD to make up for the Christmas trip that never was! I am tempted to keep it a secret too as she was sooooo disappointed when we didn't get to go. I am rubbish at keeping secrets though, so we'll see! :rolleyes1

Good luck keeping your secret and I LOVE the Bambi theme!!! :cloud9:

thanks for all the well wishs everyone :grouphug:

fingers crossed Lola, im just going to see how much of a difference we'd have to pay.... :rolleyes1

Mum to Belle, were you caught up in the snow? id say thats heartbreaking, i was upset at missing disney on ice but that pales in significance to missing out on dlp.

A question for anyone whos done a secret trip - how did ye do it?? what way did you reveal it? :dance3:

Yup, darned snow, well actually it was ice on the runway that scuppered our trip - do they not have gritters in airports???!!! :confused3

If I got DD up at 4am to go to the airport I think that in itself would give the game away - no revelation needed! :rotfl2: I would also struggle to pack in secret. I remember reading some great ideas on here though, Mickey shaped cookies, treasure hunts that lead to invites from Mickey or a packed suitcase with a Minnie balloon attached, I'm sure you'll have some good suggestions from the folks on here! :goodvibes

We did our trip in Feb as a secret - Sunday evening as the boys were finishing their tea I told them they had to hurry up as we were going a way for a few days for half term as a surprise - I said we were just going to France (we go most summers). Eldest, aged 9, burst into tears, youngest (3) wasnt quite sure what was going on. Drove to Folkestone and stayed in the HI express like we do most summers, (we hadnt driven to DLP before so I guess it never entered their heads). Next day we got up, got the train and drove down, as we got nearer and the Disney signs started showing up I held my breath every time we went past one, but they were both so engrossed in DS/DVDs that they didnt notice. We got all the way to DLH and youngest went "there's a Disney bus" and at that point eldest worked it out, but we were at the hotel door by then! Cue, eldest in tears again and youngest (3) refused to get out of the car and said he wanted to go home!! When they got over the shock they were fine and had a wonderful time, I wouldnt do a surprise again, they like the planning (wonder where they get that from ;)) but it was fun to do once and I couldnt believe that we got all the way there before they realised.

Completely overwhelmed - to be honest I should have guessed, they're both a bit "sensitive", but the eldest did think it was really cool we surprised them, he's just over emotional like his mum! I keep hoping DH will surprise me with a trip to the Castle Club.................will keep waiting!

Rebooked when we got back from the airport for end of March but I'm going to call them tomorrow and see if I can change the dates to June, fingers crossed! :goodvibes

lol sarahb74 i think we could resort to leaving brochures out with huuuge red circles around what we want :rolleyes1 .... aah the wee pets. its nice to have more sensitive boys, i have a brazen two year old who breaks eeeeeeeeeverything and hes been a bit ill this week and has reverted to being huggy this week, its awful to say but im loving it! so rare he shows his mammy any affection anymore :sad2:

:goodvibes crossing fingers for you Mum to Belle. June would be fab, March is a bit chilly. We had highs of 28degrees the end of may so dont forget the suncream :thumbsup2
