hi all,
It's coming my way.
Friday: Periods of snow and windy. High 36F. Winds N at 20 to 30 mph. Significant snow accumulation possible???????

i hate when they do it this way.i demand a estimate in inches.

whatever it may be........HOPE IT MISSES MAINE........we are right now at 13 degrees and will go into minus tonight.......I HATE COLD WEATHER.....I feel for you firemen.......with the cold and if there is a fire and the hoses and water freezes.......good luck and keep safe

Noooooooooooooooooooooooo! I land at LaGuardia at NOON on Saturday. No snow. No snow. No snow. Well at least no snow until I am on the ground safely. :teeth:

Hey mrFDNY, I'm reporting from Long Island here. Our Long Island station is saying easily 3-6" and WPLJ from NY is saying upward to 10". :confused3 Your guess is as good as mine. When they say that I'm thinking it means we'll get flurries. :teeth: I hopr you're not working and you can stay warm at home!

Here in Central Jersey, they are saying 3 - 6 inches, startin around 2 or 3 in the morning. Come what may.

Lindenhurst here, I too am going nuts with news 12 not commited to numbers. I was hoping to get my christmas tree friday night. Oh well, I guess it will be merrier with snow on the ground. :earboy2:

hi all,
i actualy look foward to major snow storms, the more the better.either way my job never closes anyhow,so i'm used to going in when it's bad outside or most holidays.this week, i start back tomorrow.just had 3 off and next week i have 6 six off.tomorrow is 16 hrs straight, starting tomorrow evening and friday i'm in for a single at night.then sat off, than double up on sun starting sunday am.i look foward to working in the snow sometimes, this is one of those times.trust me with 7 years on in this city,i've learned the hard way how to stay warm and dry.no matter how cold it is out or wet.the only thing that always get's me is the 100% slip proof on any surface boots, are not really even a bit slip proof on ice.so i got spikes that you wrap and hook to the bottom of the boots and these work for anything.i use them everytime it's ice out and they work great.

Alan Casper, the only meteorologist that get's it right, says 3-8" in N.J. Lower amounts south with increasing amounts as you to north in Jersey. BUT, I'm not working on Friday, so we probably won't get any!!! It ONLY snows when I have to go to work!! :sunny:

thanks..i was wondering what we were expectcing...im in burlington county but i have heard so many predictions

Here you go. I know NOAA has an experimental snow fall graphic that shows potential snow fall 24 hour out but I don't know if it is available in all areas.

http://www.weather.gov/forecasts/graphical/sectors/northeastWeek.php?page=3&element=SnowAmt

Try this site. Hover over the times and it will show the snowfall predicted for that time. Add up the amounts for your total. It was pretty accurate for our last 3 snow falls.

We are supposed to get 5 inches starting at midnight. I hate winter..... :cold:

I just heard on WPLJ that North & West of the city can get 6 - 12 inches. I am in Rockland County.

Then don't start complaining when they do give a number and that number is incorrect. :)

well we will get enough to close the schools because I'm off tomorrow and wanted to start wrapping. LOL Wait why am i laughing? :confused3

Well, if NYC forcasts are anything like Chicago forcasts, take the low number, not the high one.

If they call for 6 to 12 inches, we get 6. If they call for 2 to 6 inches, we get 2.

In your case, since they won't give an estimate, they most likely mean "We don't know if it will snow, and if it does, how much. Your guess is as good as ours."

I hate weather forcasts! Sometimes I think we'd know just as much by just looking out our window!

Levittown here. I have heard anything from "we don't know a number yet" to 3-6 inches. The weather channel is saying that it will snow flurry, get heavy, then rain, then snow more. Ugh. And they are saying 2-4 inches. Who knows at this point, I just hope there isn't much for Saturday. I really hate going out in heels and a dress in the snow.

You hate cold weather, but live in Maine...I'm sorry I have chuckle!! LOVE Maine, by the way.

They are saying heavy snow, and giving 4-6 inch estimate here, I do not feel comforted at all thinking that the stuff is coming our way.

Bobbi :flower:

Watch out-the forecast here went from 3-5 then 6 to 10, then 5 to 8, now 2 to 4.

We have not had one flake of snow but a quarter inch of ice which has shut down I75. Only 1 local TV weatherguy even mentioned the possibility of ice.

We had the potential for up to 36 inches of snow last year, we ended up with less than 2.
