I declined an invitation to go out for lunch today.

A Sales Rep that I work with is very appreciative whenever I help her out. (I work in the Sales dept for a large HMO) The other day another woman in the office and I made a bunch of phone calls for her and so she offered to take us out to lunch today. In the next month I'll be traveling all over Massachusetts doing 15- 20 benefits fairs for her account (the Commonwealth of Massachusetts- so I'll be talking to Commonwealth employees) and she has already said she wants to take me and the woman I'll be working with (a different woman) out to lunch when they are all over. So for today I made up a lame excuse and told her I couldn't go.

It's not that I'm not appreciative, I just find restaurants a big temptation for me. I like to pack my lunch and that way I KNOW I'll stay on plan. So I declined for today, thinking in the back of my mind that I REALLY want that 5 pound clippie. If she offers again in May when the benefits fairs are over, I'll go and make the best choices possible. Right now I just want that clippie!

Good decision making, I'm proud of you. It won't be long until you won't avoid going out for lunch because you will have changed your eating habits totally and will be confident in your ability to make wise food choices. Good for you!

Annie, that was a smart thing to do! You have to put yourself first when it comes to this whole healthy eating thing. I applaud you for making the decision to NOT put yourself in a situation where you might end up confronted with temptation!
