We will be staying at BCV from 9/6 thru 9/13. Originally we were going to rent a mini-van (there are 7 of us), but after doing some research decided to save about $200 and use Yourride instead. Now I am stressing about being a slave to WDW transportation. Maybe someone can help me with these questions and ease my mind.

1. Because this is the slowest time of the year will the busses be running less frequently?

2. If we need to get from AKL back to BCV after parks close are our only options either a bus to DD or a taxi?

3. If we opt for a cab, what would be the cost?

4. If we do the campfire at FW, how do we get back to BCV?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Dennis

Don't worry. You should be fine. We drive to WDW and opt to use their transportation exclusively while we're there. I suppose occassionally we could shave a few seconds off our travel time by using our own car, but it beats having to hunt for our car in a busy parking lot and then wait for the AC to get cold. The bus stops are shaded with ceiling fans, and the buses are nice and cool.

I've never been in Sept, but we travel in the off-season, and the buses are frequent. I think they're supposed to come every 20 minutes, but we almost always get one way before that.

You will have to use a taxi from AKL to your hotel if all the parks are closed, but remember that Epcot is open late. Of course, if you make the transfer at Epcot, you'll have to walk through the park to the International Gateway. This will use a day on your tickets if you haven't been in the parks yet that day.

You'll probably have to transfer at DTD after the campfire as well. To get there, you should go to the MK and then ride the boat, but the MK will probably be closed after the campfire. MGM would be another alternative if it's open. You can either walk or ride the boat from MGM.

Try not to worry. You're going to have a great time!

You make it sound as if Disney Transport uses Flintstone's type busses, making you do all the work... hehe.. We're not like that at all. We put the Magic in Motion! :)

Now, you mentioned that you will be staying at the Beach Club, correct? Well... Epcot is within walking distance, and the Studios, you can take a boat.

Nope. Busses are posted to run every 20 minutes. However, in reality, they tend to run more along the lines of every 7-14 minutes, on average, thanks to the introduction of Flex Dispatch.

Once the parks close, the transfer point would indeed be Downtown Disney. One little tip... the AK Lodge/DTD bus is typically very quiet. Should you happen to be the only ones on the bus, mention to the driver that you're going to the Beach Club. He or she might be able to drop you off on the way.

Last I checked, rates for Checker Cabs were $2.00 for the first 2/7th of a mile... and 25 cents per 1/7th of a mile thereafter. My guess would be around $10... *shrug*

See question #2. The DTD bus is located at the FW Outpost Depot.

Thanks for the info. My wife tells me I have a tendency to obsessively plan. I prefer to think of it as being prepared. ;)

It sounds to me like I don't have much to worry about as far as transportation goes. Now I can start obsessing about packing.

Thanks again.

Note we usually stay at BW and always have a car, but it is not a necessity although it is much faster going to and from AKL or DD or a waterpark or another resort. Taxis among resorts cost about $12. Even in Sep busses are supposed to run every 20 minutes to a location. As to FW campfire, be aware that they often have had busses that will run directly to resorts from the Pioneer Hall/Trading Post area after a Hoop Dee Doo show; I just don't know whether they do that in Sep and thus check when you get there. If not faster way back is take bus from FW to WL and grab a taxi there; trip to DD and then to resort can take very long time--in fact if that were the choice I would definitely skip the campfire which we found to be heavily populated by mosquitos.

Hey there!

I have a questions~ What is Flex dispatching?

Dennis, you should be home from (what I hope was a wonderful trip!!!) how was the transportation? Would love to hear how it worked out without a car.
