Do you take ID for your children? I was thinking about taking my son's passport (because we have it :thumbsup2 ) Do you need ID for the airport for them or do they just take your word they are who you say they are? :goodvibes TIA

Being Canadian, I had to have my sons' passport, but they were asking everyone else for ID also - so in answer to your question - yes I would take the passport. After looking at the passports, the children in our line were being asked their names - I assume to make sure they matched with the passports and ID's

You can always take it with. You never know when you will need it. But I would also call your airline. Different airlines have different procedures. Of course they may have changed since my brother has flown, but just after 9/11 Continental had said that if the child is over 16 they needed an ID. But when I flew in 2002 on US none of the cheerleaders were IDed.

We flew Southwest and did not need it. If you have one then it wont hurt to bring it. We did not need it for the kids, only for the adults.

We flew back in January and they did not ask out DD, who just turned 15 for ID for the flight. We flew USAirways for that trip.
She usually has her ID Card or her passport (depending on where we are going), just incase they ask her for it, which she keeps hoping they will do (ah to be young again and want to be carded :teeth: ).

So I agree with everyone to bring just incase.

I would be afraid of losing a passport, I would not bring it. If it makes you feel better take a copy of his birth cert. BUT we have flown numerous times with my 2 kids 7 and 14 as recently as Jan. of this year and have never needed ID for either. the last time I needed ID was when my son was under 2 on SW. They will just ask to see your drivers lic. and ask which kid is which. My DD was even selected for the extra security check twice and they didn't ask for ID then either.

i'd assume that you need id. idon't have children, but with the airport security being tightened they might just check their id to make sure they're yours.

I just flew Northwest to Orlando with DD's 3 and 6. I brought along a copy of their birth certificates just in case but they only ask them how old they are and they need to reply. Unless you are my 3 year old and in line for security at 6:30 a.m. - she wasn't talking to anyone. LOL!!

My DH and I will be taking 2 grandchildren ( ages 8 and 5 ). I was planning on bringing their birth certificates. I will also have a notarized medical consent from my daughter in case they get sick. Would I need anything else? :confused3
