I was wondering why in the world Disney would send me a postcard using my maiden name with current address. This has happened only once before and that was on my WDW vacation planning kit.

While I was looking over the current "Ten magical Reasons..." postcard I read #9 which reads.....

9. With the Vacation Planning Kit you asked for, planning your trip is easier than you can imagine.

I have had the Kit for atleast 3 months or more. So if you want to recieve postcards, maybe this is one way.

My postcard is for Disney's Dream Maker Package 7 nights at a value resort with UPHopper for $538. Before anyone gets too excited , there is a very LONG pin number you must give when you call. On another thread, peolple recieved postcards for Value resort only rates starting at $109. I think someone else said their rate was for $99.

Anyone else recieve this offer??

I got one today. We've never received a postcard/mailer before. We moved into our new house about 5 months ago and I had ordered a planning kit right after we moved in.

The mailer I got includes:
Dates: 09/30/04 - 10/30/04
Value Resorts
$99/night <<< Rack rate for Regular Season!!!
Book by 04/10/04

We've gone to WDW many times and have always stayed at the Polynesian and I order a planning kit/DVD/video every year. But, this was the first year I've ordered one from our new address. Wonder of Disney thinks they've tapped into some "new blood" :p and they thought the $99/night info would be enticing to a new customer?

You know you might be on to something here. I've never stayed at an "official" resort, yet I've received several post cards... never been able to use any of them

But a few years ago when we were planning our trip, I did order the trip planning video..... hhhhmmm, interesting, veddy interesting!

I think they also take addresses from the website. Make sure your profile on disney.com is updated with all your current information... they send me things all the time through email and I've gotten several postcards.

Sorry but you haven't cracked anything. :) I always get the new planning video and never get a postcard. Postcards are totally random. There is NO rhyme or reason to it.

I got a card today for dates 12/20/04 to 12/31/04. You have to book by 4/10/04. It's for value resorts at $114.00 per night. There is no code on the card either which surprised me. Just a month ago they sent me a postcard for April bookings at value. All my info I have ever given them states that I prefer the Beach Club. I never get anything on that. Aghhhh!!!!!

:genie: :genie:

I got the 10 points card as well. Same rates as you all. I think that this is not one of those "special" cards with great rates that can be changed to other resorts. My thought is that it goes out to many people who order the vacation package movie especially those who have not been there in a while.

I did get another postcard a few weeks before I got this one and it was for $75.00/ night at any moderate. Needless to say I changed my reservation from Pop to POR and actually saved $100.00 – did not have any code yet for Pop when I had this card.

Well, they have to get your name and address from somewhere. So it's either from the planning video or from registering at the website.

I just registered. It DOES ask when you plan on visiting,,,,so let's see if I get a card. :bounce:

I think it has something with the video also. I ordered one just to watch and make me happy and then I received a postcard. Never received one before!

No that can't be it. My mom always gets postcards and she has never registered on a website or ordered a planning video. She only gets her name on the rooms registery as a guest when I book rooms. She always gets the postcards and I never get them.

I'm registered on their site and have ordered the travel video twice adn have never received a postcard :(

hmmm...i ordered the video in 2000 and that is the only year that i have received a postcard:scratchin

I was there at the beginning of March, did one of their surveys and they asked if they could email me for more info. 3 days after I got home I had an email w/ a more involved survey. Anyway at the end it asked for comments and something along the line of what would make you come back to WDW sooner than you planned. I put in all caps a discount postcard for an onsite resort. Don't you know the other day (just over 2 weeks later) I got my very first one. It's for a value for the summer, for $99 a night. Not gonna be able to use it-- but I was SOOO excited!!

Supposedly it's random computer selection or regional marketing based on various data bases that Disney has access to.

I've also gotten surveyed at the parks numerous times and online. One at Epcot was very lengthy. I still haven't received a postcard.

My husband received a "postcard" in January and again about a week ago--all for the same time period (book by 4/17) AND value resorts. We never stay at a value (except the one time that he and our son stayed at ASMu with the high school band), not that we wouldn't IF we were slipping another trip in during the year. ;)

We deduced that he received the postcard because we haven't booked a vacation in his name for a good many years, since maybe 1995? Although, he did order a planning DVD in January, but it came addressed to me--the reservations are usually in my name because I am the planner. Another strange thing is we received 2 DVDs, one to me with the correct address and one in a stranger's name but with our address. Very odd, but I apologize to the person who called ahead of us and didn't get their planning DVD! :sunny:

Finally, the postcard that my husband received is correct in given name and address. The surname, however, is wrong by two letters.

I guess all of that kind of gives credence to AND diminishes your theory depending on which way you view it! :D I really wish we could figure this whole thing out--I'd LOVE a F&W Festival trip with my husband in the late fall! ;)

I just made a ressie for 4 nights at the POP in August for $99 a night/ $110 with tax, without a postcard or code, so that postcard rate can't be to spectacular, if I got the same thing without it. I'm still waiting for Ap codes to come out, hopefully I can upgrade.
