Okay so I just found out that I got a promotion at work. I know you are all thinking this is a good thing - IT IS!! BUT

It is on day shift!! I have been working 2:30 to 11:00pm for almost 7 years now and starting this coming Monday I have to be to work at 8:30.  I dont know how I am gonna pull this off! I have to work Sunday night also - my boss may let me get out a little early.

So has anyone else had to totally change their schedule? How long did it take you to adjust. HELP!!!!!

Yikes I am no help...I have had the same start time in the same place for 17 years!!!

COngrats on the promotion though and tons of good luck!!!

Congrats, Christine! :)
DH went from afternoons to day shift a year or so ago and it took him a couple weeks to get used to it.
I wish he'd get put back on day shift. :(

No advice, Christine....just CONGRATULATIONS!

Mayeb you can still slip away to Atlanta for a ball game this summer...:D

Congrats on the promotion! DH was stuck on night shift for 10+ years & never got used to it. The first day he went back to day shift he was fine - because it was still his normal schedule. :(

I assume it's not possible to take a vacation/personal day on Sunday? Do you also work Saturday? Can you at least plan a lazy weekend & nap before work so that you won't need a full night's sleep?

Good luck!

Deb

Christine, you could send your phone number to everyone on the cb who has to be at work early and they can call you every morning :teeth:

It won't take you long to get used to it. You may never like going in early but you will get used to it.

Congratulations on your promotion :)

Hey I may have to take you up on that Katholyn. LOL I am such a night owl!! I think I will have to go out and buy 2 or 3 more alarm clocks this weekend!

I could probably take a personal day Sunday but I dont want to, I want to say goodbye to all my friends. I am off today and tomorrow though so I will only be working 6 days in a row.

Thanks everyone for the congrats! :)

Now you know what its like to be in the REAL world! ;) Seriously, I have had my schedule change from 6am to 1pm to 9am to 5pm and now since my big promotion:rolleyes: 5AM to 1PM!  I have been doing this since Sept. of last year, so YOU WILL get used to it!;) I go to bed at 10:00 and get up at 3:45am to be to work at 5:00am.:o Does that mean NO MORE quick trips to DISNEY?

You have to set your alarm(s) to get up and log on the DIS before you go to work each morning to tell us you're up . :teeth: Or else we call you ;) ...course you have to give us the number ;)

seriously, I've always done a day job so I can't advise you! The extra alarms should do the trick and I don't think it will take too long to adjust.

Congrats on your promotion Christine!!!

Congratulations on the promotion, Christine!

I have no advice on how to make the adjustment, but I hope it goes quickly and smoothly!

Congrats Christine!! I have no advice...I have always worked days and wouldn't be happy any other way.

But I was wondering...does this promotion include a raise...a raise that you could perhaps use to come down on the 21st and meet up with us on the BW :teeth:

I wish Debbie!!! I get a 5% raise BUT I lose my shift differential so I will probably be making just a few extra bucks a week. But hey it is a promotion that will help me get more promotions.

Ann - I will have to remember to get online - say hi to my favorite "Swolphins" and who knows, maybe some days I will be first??? :teeth:

Thank you all even if you dont have any advice. I know it will take me time and I know I will adjust. I just need to stock up on morning happy pills.
