I could use a little encouragement

If you don't mind, could I get a little encouragement? I have had a hard week this week sticking to my points. I made a boo boo by eating all my Flex Points last weekend, leaving none left for the weekdays. As a result, I have gone over my points a little bit for 3 days of this week. No binging, just a little over my points. I haven't been to my official weigh-in (it's tomorrow), but my home scale is showing a pretty significant gain. My weight gains tend to be pretty volatile, which can be very discouraging. If I go over my points in the slightest, I tend to have a large (like 2+ pounds) gain. I know that I shouldn't have gone over my points, but I was hungry. I've already got my strategy ready for next week: I will not eat as many Flex Points on Sunday so I can have some left for the weekdays. But I'm discouraged a bit anyhow. I knew where I could come for support--my WISH buddies.

Elisabeth,
First and foremost, don't beat yourself up over this! Here is a hug!
My way of thinking through this whole process has been this:
Day by Day, pound by pound
I cannot go back and change things from a past day, I can learn from it and move forward, making each day better...
Sounds like you are doing that...
So, you made a mistake! No biggie girl! We all do it....but the thing that you need to think about is that you are working at it....and you should be proud of yourself for putting forth the thought and effort! ::yes::

Now, if you feel like your points are not allowing flexibility, maybe you need to talk to your WW person. Just a thought....

I know you can do it...we all can...if we want it bad enough! Don't get down...we are always here for you...you CAN do this...just take it day by day! Each day make sure you find one thing that makes that day better than the one before...and think positive!
:cutie:

The best thing you can do is to come here, I find the support on this board to be one of the things that really helps. (even though my weight loss is slow).

It is okay if you backslide, you know you can come here and get back on track. Do not get upset with yourself losing weight is hard work and takes a lot of will power, especially when you get hungry. I agree with Kamgen talk to your WW person and see about maybe changing your program a bit.

First of all, for you!! You'll be fine, I promise!! ::yes::

Are you sure some of the weight isn't from retaining water? It's hard to gain 2 pounds of fat - that's a LOT of calories!! - but it's pretty easy to pick up 2 extra pounds of water. Maybe you were eating stuff that is extra salty or maybe you need to drink more water or maybe it's just the time in your cycle when you retain water?? Since you said you haven't gone over your points by much, I'm betting that the Bloat Fairy has bestowed extra water weight on you and it will be easy to take it off.

Today is a new day! :sunny: We can't change yesterday so let's just move forward, OK?

Here's another hug  !! I hope you're feeling better real soon! Hang out here - no one seems to be able to help me smile again more than my WISH friends!! :grouphug:

Sending more hugs:hug: your way! Before you dwell too much longer on your indescretion, sit back and think of all the good things you've done. Any thing that has become easier for you, like physical activity, avoiding certain foods, and increased enrgy and improved attitude. I'm sure you have seen some really good changes. Don't let a baby step backward de-rail you! I know you can get right back on track and get going in the right direction! I'm glad you came here to vent and ask for support. You know we have all been where you are and are likely to have it happen again. The important thing to remember is life is a journey, and we do need to stop and take detours once in a while. It is part of being human. It is what helps satiate our curiosity, spurs creativity, and often leads to important self discovery. Learn something from your most recent side trip, and then get back on your path, and start back on your way.:) You can do it!

Keep the Faith!
Tracy

  from me, too, Elisabeth! You know, life style changes are not easy to make. We all have ups and downs, but it looks like you have already turned your down into an up by coming up with a different plan for next week. That shows learning and growth and that's what it's really all about! I think you are doing great and those 2 pounds will peel right back off in no time! :D

Hi Elisabeth,

I am so glad you started this thread. I've have not stayed on course the last couple of days and I also saw the scale go up 2 lbs. I unfortunately must weigh daily (I'm obsessed)

I did not eat anything that was not on the SDB list, however, what I did eat, I ate too much.

Reading the replies to you encouraged me also.

I especially like Kamgen's reply:
Day by Day, pound by pound
I cannot go back and change things from a past day, I can learn from it and move forward, making each day better...

I will do better tomorrow. I have been successful with SBD so I know I can do it. ::yes::

I feel better and ready to take on a new day.

Thanks

ADisneyMom

Lots and lots of hugs to you!!!!

I'll echo what so many have said here....don't despair! You'll get back on track and be just fine.

When I get hungry and feel like cheating, I go out for a brisk walk. The adrenelin replaces the hunger, and when I come back I usually drink a ton of water which fills me right up. You can do it girl! Don't give up!!!!

Thank you so much for your encouragement, everyone! Don't worry, if there is one thing I'm NOT gonna do, it's give up. I've been at this WAY too long to do a silly thing like that. The scale did go up at WW (up 1.8 pounds), but that is certainly not something I can't recover from. I have already picked out what I'm having for brunch after church tomorrow, which is a time I'm usually very tempted. We WILL do this, even if it's not as speedy as we would like!

Hey, let me get in here, too!:crowded: Isn't it nice that here on the WISH board everyone likes to give hugs and give help? You did the right thing, Elisabeth, by coming and letting everyone know you needed a boost.

I count my points, too, and I know that sometimes you do get just plain HUNGRY! If you've ever figured out what points translate into calorie-wise, you know why! Still, what's most important on this journey is to learn about ourselves along the way--and you've done that from this experience. You've already put into place a plan for tomorrow; that strategy came from the struggle this past week.

I've found that it's best for me to use my flexpoints as I need to on a daily basis. I average 1-4 extra points each day. Some days I don't use them at all, but I'd say those days are rare--only one or two a week. Overall, I'd say that the new WW plan works for me.:D

 to you as you continue onward and downward and as you prepare for your wedding. :bride:. Congrats!

Erin

 :grouphug:  The more hugs the better!!!

You have gotten some wonderful words of encouragement here Elisabeth. You are someone who has stuck with this a very long time and I am so glad that you don't want to throw in the towel. You can do this just like Kamy said, day by day! Hang in there!

Hi, Elisabeth:wave: I hope things go OK at brunch today. Please know we're all thinking about you and sending out good vibes for you today.:goodvibes !

Take care,
Erin

One bad week does not a failure make. You came to the best place possible for good 'ol moral support!!! The points are sometimes hard to follow but take a few minutes to plan ahead. For example, plan for some crunchy snacks, sweet snacks, salty snacks, whatever. That helps me. Hang in there!

((HUGS)) Elisabeth,

Hang in there. I agre with the one day at a time theory. What is in the past, is in the past. Today and tomorrow are completely new days and no matter what was done yesterday or today, you can do better tomorrow.

I also really believe in allowing yourself to have the things you like. Just in moderation. I am glad you came to WISH for support.....that is one of the best ways to nip an eating spree in the bud. Would you do better only giving yourself so many points per day -Divide your target and flext points by 7 and get a daily range. If you feel you eat too many too early in the week, try this. I eat all my flex points each week, but I try to make sure that I watch what I eat in the beginning of the week so I have some left. Good luck, we are here for you.

Melanie
