i'm a little down today and could use some reinforcement from 55,000 of my closest friends...

last week, while my husband and i were driving to work, i had mild seizure. i had complained of a headache the night before and it was still there that morning...i then had that weird deja vu kind of feeling...and the next thing i remember is DH asking me if i was ok. i thought i had just passed out or fell asleep. he said that i crossed my arms and legs, leaned to the left, and began to twitch. i had never had one before.

we ended up in the emergency room. they ran some tests, did a CT scan, but found nothing out of the ordinary. i'm healthy as a horse, they said! but i had to go to a neurologist yesterday for a follow up. he did all of the normal reflex type tests and said that while i appear to be alright, he wants me to go through an EEG and an MRI, to rule out anything that they can't see with the naked eye.

i about had a full blown panic attack right then. i'm ok with the EEG...but the MRI freaks me out! he's already prescribed ativan to relax me during the MRI. i'm not sure if its an open MRI or not. from the way it sounded, it's not. :(

he's put me on a mild seizure medication as well. he says it's supposedly alright for me to take in the event that i get pregnant anytime soon. i'm not so sure about that...but i plan to do a bit of research on it...

and he's told me that until these test come back and they rule everything out, i'm not allowed to drive. and there's a chance that i can't drive for 3-6 months...talk about taking away my freedom! i know it's just to be on the safe side, but what am i supposed to do when DH has to go out of town? none of my co-workers live nearby. all of my family is 2 hours away. daily driving isn't that big of a deal to me. DH and i work less than 3 miles from each other and drive to work together every day...we only have one vehicle. it works great for us...

i'm just freaking out about this not driving stuff and the MRI. has anyone had the MRI done and taken the ativan prior to it? does it work? will it knock me out? that's what i'm hoping for!

thanks for whatever prayer, pixie dust, or good thoughts that you can send my way...i really do appreciate it...

That is tough! Wow! I am so sorry that you are going through this! Good thoughts, prayers and pixie dust coming your way. Wish I could help more than that!

Michelle

I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers that everything turns out okay.

I am sending lots of prayers and PD your way that all goes well. Please keep us updated on your testing. I am sure being told you can't drive is hard, but you are right, it is for the best. Hopefully they will be able to rule everything out and give you the OK to drive again soon. I'll be thinking of you.

Awww, Brandie. You know we're here for you. You'll get through this just fine.

Sending lots of good thoughts and prayers your way.

Sorry, I have never had an MRI, but I would be just like you. Open MRI's are much more readily available nowadays...can you ask your Dr. if that is a possibility?

Unfortunately (and someone please correct me if I am wrong), you cannot be put to sleep during an MRI.

{{HUGS}}

 Sending some P&PD your way. I hope they find the cause soon, and it's easily treatable.

I hope everything turns out fine. I'll be thinking about you.

Brandie ~ I am really sorry to hear that. The hardest part always seems to be the waiting.
I am sending prayers and pixie dust your way...I hope everything turns out OK.

Brandie - many prayers that everything will be "ok" and you'll be able to drive soon.

Oh Scarlett, Im so sorry to hear this. It must be so hard to go through something like this. Even if it is nothing major, which Im sure it will prove to be, it is still scary, and life altering for you.
Hang in there and heres loads of pixie dust for you!!!!

Brandie~ {{{hugs}}} I have no experience with MRIs, so I don't know what it's like. I hope everything goes well for you. Hang in there! :sunny: Keep us posted.

I have had an MRI on my neck and it was closed. I didn't have a problem with that. It was more boring than anything. You will hear clicking and you will be able to hear the tech through a speaker. I wish you luck! :)

HI brandie:wave2:

We haven't had the chance to meet yet but I never skip a thread asking for prayer!

I will be honored to pray for a healing in your life as well as peace.

I had an mri a couple of years ago and I was a little nervous, so I understand your concerns.

I bought a book that my dr recomended called The Relaxation Response (updated and expanded ) by Herbert Benson, MD. It was just a few dollars in paperback and it really did help me. Your local library prolly has it as well since it's been out forever.

It also helps to remember you are never alone even inside the mri machine. ;)

Blessings!!!

Brandi I'll keep you in my prayers and send pixie dust your way. I've had seizures in the past when I've passed out. It was just due to a neurological condition where I pass out when the body thinks that it's in danger. Oddly enough..it's not that rare either. You're probably fine and it was just a fluke ..maybe your body was just worn down. When is your MRI scheduled for?? Maybe the doctor can take you out of work until after your results are back. Could you stay with family when your husband is out of town...could they come stay with you??

thank you everyone...it truly helps!

2bemarried...we're still working on all of that. i'm not sure if anyone can come stay with me or not yet...and i can't stay away from work, although i wish i could! lol

we'll get it all figured out i'm sure. i was just venting my frustrations...i've got great co-workers that are offering to help if need be...i just wish i didn't live so stinking far away! lol

Brandie wishing you all the best! I do hope it isn't anything serious or that will keep you from doing all you like to do. You have my prayers... keep us posted
