I Could Just Scream

I wonder if there is anyone out there that feels like they could scream over their financial situation right now. Things have been so hard this year for alot of people. I sell Real Estate and you know what that means, you got it no money. We have had our Christmas trip planned for over a year and even had all the money saved for it. I had to call and cancel due to our low bank account balance and I need our trip money to help with the bills. I am about 2 seconds from telling the bank they can have the house and just giving up. I am sick of needing more money each month than we have. I am not sure how other people are dealing with this, but we can't be the only ones. Just had to vent, and I still feel like screaming. Kim

I share your pain. Not sure where money for Christmas is coming from but that's why I'm pulling more shifts at work.

I too share your pain....we canceled our trip too and don't even see where christmas money is coming from....really stinks.:sad1:

Things have been hard for me too. I graduated law school in 2006 but missed passing the bar by 2.5 points (had a lot of family issues at the time, mostly my mom's passing away). Soo...couldn't take the bar until February of this year, got admitted late April when scores were posted, started a partnership that has now collapsed due to the interference of a third attorney (LONG story) and the result is I have massive personal debt, MASSIVE student loan debt, and no new job yet and no money.
But on the plus side, things can only get better. And Walt Disney did once say that sometimes, getting kicked in your teeth can be a blessing. I'm hoping there's truth to that.

Keep the faith! :goodvibes

I'm with ya. What's worse is that I live in a state that's in a recession. I literally don't know anyone personally that isn't hurting at least a little.
:grouphug:

I am right there too. We had bugeted for another baby and got two! Now the childcare is adding up, and groceries, and formula and diapers. We are making it, but we knew it would be tight. We told everyone that there would be Christmas this year only for the kids.

Yes I feel your pain! My "check engine" light came on yesterday and it's going to cost over $600 to fix my car. And this a month after I had to spend $500 on a new set of tires.

If my parents ask me what I want for Christmas, I'm going to tell them "a gift card to NTB!"

   To all of you.

I've been there. I wish I could offer better words of encouragement, but all I can say is, it'll pass.

Uhg, I don't even want to think about my car. The brakes are going, the tires are going, it's got all kinds of electrical things going. For instance, the heat only works on high now, so we have to turn it on for a while, then turn it off before we all turn into jerky. :rotfl:
I've been "real" poor before though, so I have to keep this in perspective as it's the only thing that keeps me sane. We have food in the fridge and a roof over our heads, I can't ask for much more.

I feel your pain too. In March I was sitting pretty...no debt except my mortgage, nice savings, vacation fund, etc. Then I got fired because the new snot-nosed partner didn't like me. Six months later, I finally found a job, but living on unemployment ran up my credit card debt and ate up most of my savings. I just used my Christmas club money for bills.

Oh, and my new job pays $11,000 less than my old job and I'm a single mom.

I'm back to where I was 10 years ago, financially.

I feel your pain. No decrease in pay, just increase in bills & living expenses. And those unexpected car repairs get you every time.

Tonight we reinforced the "no gift" rule to the relatives. I'm tired of them not following it & I've fallen for buying them a little something just because they buy us something. NOT THIS YEAR. We are NOT buying gifts. Just the 3 nieces & nephews & that's it!

Feeling your pain here too. About 2 years ago my dept got outsourced and I lost about 4 grand per year plus all my benefits and leave time. We have not even begun to start catching up from where we started sliding but we will eventually. It's hard and some days you just feel like throwing in the towel. Hang in there and lets all hope we pull through this soon. :wizard:

I also wanted to add...there has been a thread on the budget board for quite some time on doing ExpoTV entitled Another way to make a little cash or something like that. Really, check it out. All of us have been doing videos in our spare time and making good money to help out. My dh and I both have made over 1000 each from there.

Me too. Things were going well, DH had lots of overtime, then the company I worked for for 30 years closed in Feb. So we used our credit cards to get by, then I got a job in July and we were going to be able to get caught up pretty quick. The week after I got the job, DH was told no more overtime! It's going to be a long time before those cards are paid off now.

I dealt with that too. My DH lost a lot of overtime pay and it really hurt us. Now we are both making decent money but with costs going up on everything (but no raises in pay) it is getting harder and harder to stay a step ahead. High gas bills, higher gas prices, groceries are going higher and higher and medical insurance is :scared1: . It just never ends. I try to put money away every week, but it is getting tougher to do for us.

We're getting older, kids are starting to go to college and expenses just keep adding up. I know one of these days things will be better but it seems like we have had 15 years of yuck...I'm ready for 15 years of something else.

I am with you. BUT, this too shall pass.

DH has been driving 75 miles one way to work, just to keep the health insurance. At $3.20/gallon for gas, this eats up the pocket book.

I am driving 100 miles (round trip) three times a week to school on top of the normal commute to work. Our cars are getting older and having some issues. The house seems to be falling apart and nickeling and diming us.

We probably shouldn't be going to WDW in March, but I gonna go anyway to celebrate finally getting through college and just working again. DS and DD and DH have been real troopers this past 4 years. They deserve a fun week, (and I do too).

Hang in there all. We will get through these times....

I hear ya! I just put new tires on my van yesterday to the tune of 417.00 :scared1: I really needed them with the winter weather coming... but it still hurt. There goes all my birthday money... Plus the gas situation is getting ridiculous....

Ow we did this in august and it hurt and that was getting the cheapest tires walmart had...but the steel was starting to show through ours so we had no choice. Its these things that really can set you back.
