I spent all of yesterday prepping and buying supplies, etc to make tshirts. I was planning on some tiedye Mickeys and spiral Mickeys for our December trip and a few random ones for the girls. I mix up the spiral stuff and it goes on super great. My shirts are laying in the sun and life is good. Then I start the tie dye. The box says it will do up to 8 shirts. I ran out after 3 shirts and a onesie. We pack up the baby and run to the store to get another box. I add that to the 3 shirts (they didn't seem soaked enough). Everything sits overnight. My 3 shirts have very nice Mickey heads on them, but most of the rest of the shirt is white. The onesie is almost completely blue. The Mickey head looks sort of like a Mickey head. So I vow to never again tie dye. At least the spiral Mickeys look good so far right?!?!?! So I decide to go ahead and start with the painting. The blue goes on great. Then the pink doesn't spray. I am ready to pack the baby up again when I realize that the store where I got the paint is an hour away. So I decide to make the best of it. I shake it around some more and hold it sideways and everything else and get a few sputters. Okay, still not the end of the world. The shirts sit for an hour+ and I head out to peel off the spirals. Except that the area under them is not white. Apparently the paint soaked in too well. I seriously just want to sit here and cry. I have a set of shirts with too much white and a set of shirts with not enough white. This project cost too much to scrap the whole idea but maybe crying would make me feel better. And the sick part? The random shirts I decided to make for the girls turned out super!
