There are over 400 posts on it on the 'Theme Park' board and it is clear as mud, lol.

It appears to be a lot like the deal they ran a few years ago it is for active & retired Military, members of the Coast Guard and activated members of the National Guard or Reserves (activated between 1/1/08 and the end of 12/23/09). It allows the eligible military person to get one complimentary 5 day MYW PH (with WP & more) and allows them to purchase up to five companion 5 day MYW tickets for $99 each (PH & other options can be added).

On the other thread there seems to be a bit of misunderstanding as to who exactly is eligible, how to get the tickets/vouchers, who can use the companion tickets and how the companion tickets can be used.

When WDW did this the last time my DH, who is a Reservist, got put on orders for a couple of weeks, for off-site training, and we took those orders along with his military ID to WDW. He got a complimentary ticket, my MIL, my FIL and I got the companion tickets which were 3 day tickets at that time. It sounds like it is the same type of deal and if it is than it is pretty cut and dry as to who is eligible.

There also seems to be a 40% off code for military members to use at the resorts. I haven't heard or seen much about that so I'm not sure if there are black-out dates, if it is good on weekends, or if it is good at all resorts. So hopefully the Podcast Crew will clue all of us in. :)

The part that bothers me is that Reservists, unless they are on Active Duty, are excluded from this promotion. As someone whose loved one has been called up three times since 911 (twice with 3 days notice) and gone for 18 months each call up, plus is gone Friday-Sunday every four weeks and lives in constant anxiety of the "US Government" showing up on the caller-id, I certainly think that Reservists deserve the same respect and discounts as Active Duty.

Sorry, this whole thing hits a very sore spot with me.

I for one am super excited. :thumbsup2 I was able to take advantage of the 40% off discount on all my trips next year!   Plus we are planning on using the free/$99 tickets to go to mousefest!!!!   Now, I just need to go find a job. :scared1:

When I called today, I was told there were no blackout dates. It was just subject to availability. All of my dates were available with the military discount and you can add the dining plan, without adding tickets. All my dates were blacked out of the passholder 40% off pin.:thumbsup2

Not sure I can clear anything up at the moment...but if Disney is doing something good for our Military folks....I'm think thats awesome.

I dont know many military folks personally....but I know Launchpad11B spent NYE outside in zero degree weather working to keep folks celebrating in Time Square safe. Multiply that by the number of folks involved in all aspects of the Military and I dont think there is enough Disney or any other company can do to say thank you

Please do not misinterpret this as any kind of political agenda.

I dont care what side of the line you fall on....we owe the people in the Military our thanks and gratitude for the sacrifices they make and everything they do.

My DH is a Reservist too and we were able to get the free military ticket and complimentary tickets the last time. My DH had to produce a copy of his orders for the timeframe required and show his military ID and there was not problem. I would think that if your loved one is on orders or has been on orders at anytime between 1/1/08 and the end of 12/23/09 than they are eligible. If you don't have a trip planned in the upcoming month I'd wait a couple of weeks to let the MWR/ITT offices get the info and iron things out and then give them a call as well as call WDW. Or try calling SOG at 888-593-2242 and see if they can answer your question.

I think the wording on Reservist is what has most people confused.

That is good to know! Thanks.
