I spoke with a DVC Guide over the phone exactly a week ago today (June 12) and he was sending me the introduction kit with literature and video -- he told me to make sure I read everything thoroughly and call him when I'm ready to purchase and/or with any questions but he would not be back in the office till June 25. Well, as of today I still have not received the kit and I can't even call to get things started since he won't be back in for another week!!! I'm going crazy!! I really want to get this going -- should I call back and just buy with another guide?? Do I have to wait to get the kit before I can purchase?? Also, does anyone know if right now the only home resort choice is BCV?? I would prefer VWL if still available but I don't have any idea if it is -- I really wish I would have bought when I first inquired about 5 years ago!! (Where have you heard that before!! ;) )

:) I understand your impatience, I was the same way when we finally decided to buy in. We took years to decide, but was we made up our minds that we were ready I couldn't stand to wait even one more day.
You do not have to have the packet to get things going. You can call over the phone, get a guide and put a down payment via credit card on your points purchase to hold it. Our guide is Bruce Douglas and he was very efficient in getting things done quickly. Unless, of course, he's on vacation!a
I,m sorry but I'm not sure if VWL is sold out or not.

Good Luck!!!! You're making a fabulous decision.

Hmm, we hear that "I wish I'd bought sooner" only about every other day LOL... We say the same thing & we've owned 3 years already... we waited 3 years to buy to begin with!!

Anyways, you don't need the info package in order to buy, just call up with your credit card in hand!! The only thing they are selling on-site right now is BCV's... It is possible if you buy your contract at BCV, that you could do an immediate add on at WLV's. Some use years are available to members only... so you'd have to tell your guide that that is what you want to do, it would pretty much determine what your use year is... by whatever's available at WLV's...

You could always do a resale of a WLV package, you could check out the different resale packages.

In regards to your guide, you don't need to wait if you're ready, just call & speak with someone else, explain that your guide is away & you are ready to start the buying process...

Good luck!!

You don't have to wait to receive the packet to buy. It's just an information packet, a video and probably some point schedules. You can just call and make your deposit over the phone. VWL is sold out and only available as add-ons for only a few use years. If you're really interested in VWL, maybe you could buy 150 points at BCV and add-on additional points at VWL or consider a resale, I've seen a few VWL resales on the resale market.

I see that you are from NY. Are you having the package mailed to an address in NY state? Last I heard, NY residents are still not able to purchase BCV unless they do so while at WDW or in a neighboring state?? If that is the case you may not see your video/info. until NY is done with the approval process.

You can NOT be serious!!! WHY???

First of all, nothing was said to me by the guide -- you'd think he'd mention that, huh?? Just my luck!!

I am fuming!!!!

I just called DVC and double checked and they confirmed NY State can not buy into BCV only HH and VB and I do NOT want anything off property!! She said I can buy in person but not over the phone -- is this the stupidest or what??!!??

I won't be down there till October and I was actually hoping on getting this taken care of and possibly getting a res at one of the DVC properties for my Oct trip and cancelling the POR -- also, if I have to wait till I'm there in October it may be sold out and the DVC girl agreed with me that by October it may be sold out. I am soooooooooo sad!!! :( As any other day, I wish I could be in WDW right NOW!!! Oh, well, maybe it's not meant to be.

Why don't you check the resale market? My understanding is nothing prevents you from buying a resale. Especially since you seem interested in VWL.

I've tried -- I was declined financing twice. I don't think I was meant to be a member.:(

I don't know if it's possible, but could you fly down for the day? At least a few members have done that for really small money, like a couple hundred dollars for airfare... That's what I'd do!!!

I don't understand how they can sell to me in person but not over the phone -- what about everything going through the mail?? Nothing was mentioned about that -- what if they sent me the paperwork -- I send it back all signed with a check etc and the phone wasn't used -- I don't know -- I think it's so stupid.

The delay for NY residents is in the hands of the State of New York. DVC must register with each state in which they wish to sell and NY has always been notoriously slow with their approval (to protect their citizens  ). Once approved they are able to handle sales by mail (they actually use FedEx) in that state.

DVC can sell in FL, since they are already registered there and are not governed by the rules of other states while you are in FL. Resales are not governed by the same rules, since the states don't control sales by private individuals.

DVC is registered to sell VWL in NY, but ceased sales at that resort to new members last February.

Good Luck!

The funny thing is the rep on the phone told me that NY state is #1 in DVC membership so she doesn't understand the problem either -- don't know if this is accurate but it's what she said. Also, out of curiousity did VWL stop new membership Feb 2002 or 2001?? Thanks!! I am too depressed!!:(

NY does have the largest number of members- which makes the delay very frustrating- for BOTH the members and DVC. The application was made last fall. Call your congressman! ;)

VWL stopped non-member sales February 2002, when BCV went on sale to the public.

I'd second the resale issue. Save your money for 6 months to a year just like you'd bought already. Look for alterntive fanancing like home equity loans or refinancing what debts you have at a lower interest rate. If that doesn't work out, rent from a member for Oct and then buy when you're down or make a special trip. Also, if you have a relative in another state, you might get the info through them.
