Can you not book The Swan Or Dolphin through your Dreams Unlimited agent? I think I remember hearing something like you had to book through something else. If you do that, can you then transfer the reservation to Dreams?

Well I've never have done it, but since this forum is sponsered by the S/D, and this site is owned by Pete Werner, who owns DU, it wouldn't make sense that you couldn't book through DU.

Yeah, that would make sense. :)

Ok I found my old email from my agent. BTW, I should mention she is on vacation thats why Im asking here.
I had asked about special rates I had heard about at S/D a while back and she told me that they do offer them through DreamRes(???)but she couldnt book it for me. It was more of a do it yourself thing, and she gave me the link. I didnt do it at the time. I kept what I had.

Now that these new AP rates are out I would like to try to see if I could get that rate. I would like to stay with with DU, and if I could book it on my own, then transfer it to them when my agent gets back, that would be great. But I want to be sure I can transfer it if I book it on my own. After all the work my agent has done on the trip, I dont want to just cancel on her.

I used DU for my stay at the Swan this past June originally using the teacher rate, then I changed it to a special on the CL. They can, and sometimes they are the best source for a Swan/Dolphin reservation when the Swan/Dolphin rates are sold out through the spg website. I do know that there are certain rate plans that DU cannot book. This is probably what you are thinking of.

Have a wonderful trip!

I ran into the same problem several months ago when we were looking into staying at the Swan. We had a previous reservation for the Poly, made through DreamsUnlimited. Because of some very unexpected circumstances, it was necessary for us to consider other resorts.

When I asked my Dreams agent to check availability at the Swan or Dolphin, she told me that she could not do that, that I would have to go through the DreamsRes system (which is part of DreamsUnlimited, but doesn't include all the trip planning help). I was very confused too and ended up making the reservation myself (with the extremely kind and thoughtful assistance from a fellow DISer!)

Since then it has been explained to me this way: the DreamsUnlimited agents assist you in all levels of planning a trip, including itinerary help, PS help, daily suggestions, etc. The DreamsRes system (and I never understood completely if there were specific DreamsRes agents) is part of Dreams Unlimited and (I think) may offer assistance with PS's but that's it. You make the reservation through their website.

If anyone has additional information or a clearer explanation, I would love to hear it! Since all this happened back in January, I've seen numerous posts about people using Dreams to book the Swan or Dolphin and I've always wondered if I was given wrong information or if they're really talking about using DreamsRes instead of DreamsUnlimited.
