I can't handle all these glitches on Disney's booking website

Has it always been this bad on Disney's website when booking a hotel? Normally I only go once or twice a year so I barely looked at the site, but with the annual pass I've been booking more frequently. I was looking at a passholder room only rate and I see the below:

I'm assuming this is incorrect since what discount makes a room more expensive. It says Package under the amount so I'm guessing it's showing a package total even though the discount is for room only. It's frustrating and making me not want to book a Disney hotel since I can't look at accurate rates and know what is actually available.

Are others having the same issues as me? I really don't remember ever encountering anything like this before. Sorry for the rant.

I agree the site is really wonky. When I booked my deal, I had to click on the Update Cart button and for whatever reason I had to unclick tickets on the next page (even though it's an AP rate, so why would regular tickets be added in the price?). Once I did that, it no longer showed a Package Total and I could then see my nightly rate. Weird!

They've had a few oddities since their failed update last month.
For some reason the system is adding dining plans to some AP resort stays and you can't remove it online. You can call and they can book it without the dining package on the phone.
The biggest issue is I'm not sure they are even acknowledging the problem and working to fix it
It only is a problem on a few resorts. I know one of the PO resorts also does this. I think it's Riverside

That's frustrating since I can't just go through and compare rates amongst a bunch of hotel since I can't see accurate pricing

I talked to a Castmember online chat and she said she would let the IT department know and was surprised to hear about it. It was weird how the only thing that showed for me were packages when I clicked on the room only discount

Well, if they ask you, it's French Quarter, not Riverside, that will show up with Dining Package added and no way to remove it.
Now, normally French Quarter is not included in the discounts anyway, so it probably is just a different glitch. But, sometimes they do include it, we got it at a discount last year.
Still, bizarre way to do it, to show it with dining and if you put it in your cart and try to remove dining package it returns an error

If you look in the other thread here, the one about AP Discounts going through 10/31 (which is also wrong, they only go through 10/7) but in that thread you'll see another discussion about this same issue with packages on some resorts and what another Dis'er is doing to deal with it

I find MDE pretty worthless. I rarely use it. In fact, I use it so infrequently, I'm constantly resetting my password 'cause I can't remember it. There's gotta be a better way...

It's frustrating but how on earth do you handle calling them on the phone all the time? That is even worse than their website!

My issue has been Veteran's Day weekend. I am contemplating a split stay and trying to research options but every time I search I get a different list of available hotels and when I click on them they show no availability in any room category. So frustrating.
I am hoping that when the Nov discounts are released things will get better. Ever since the June update I have a notice on all of the hotel options that "This hotel is not available for this promotion" but I haven't selected a promotion and there isn't even one active for that timeframe. It is really unbelievable that this has been going on for almost a month.

I am super annoyed too. I plug in my dates and it lists all the hotels and prices. Then I choose one and all room types say unavailable. WTH!? Why doesn't the first page show them as unavailable then? I have to go through and click on each resort until I find one that is actually available?! What a joke!

Click all of the hotels - it also works the other way around. The website sometimes labels a resort as unavailable and it actually has rooms. That's how I got my YC room with AP discount for September just a couple of weeks ago. Looking for a Disney hotel has become a very time-consuming and frustrating experience!

I'm always frustrated (at disney's site) when I shop other hotels' sites - say, Hilton or Sheraton - and realize how much easier it can be. Disney is the only hotel site I've used where it won't display all the possible discount rates at once (I have to choose another discount rate, then wait for the page to slowly reload, to see the next rate, repeat, try to remember the 1st rate, etc.) At Sheraton? You simply choose 3 (IIRC) discounts, they display all 3 prices at once as well as promotions and packages.
I'm sure Disney does it for a reason, but I feel they are treating me like a child, or trying to hide something by not just telling me all the rates at once. (Other hotels will tell you the member rate, even if you aren't a member and even if its not a free membership - you can decide by that whether to join. Disney AP? Must sign in and have an AP (even then sometimes it won't show up for me). I think they'd sell more APs if they'd just put the price out there for the general public.)

Knowing it's not just me struggling with this makes me feel a bit better. I really hope they fix these issues soon.

Something is definitely different these days. I am notorious for my continuous search for the best deal on the Disney site. I constantly try every combination of dates and locations always with my eye on saving some money. However, strange things happening--like the package price mentioned by OP, where sometimes when you click on it, and sometimes even with that no room categories are available when you click on it. This doesn't just happen with the package priced rooms either, it happens with others options given that really don't exist when you get to finally selecting a resort that they say is available. Also, it seems they are really, really trying to lock you in to a specific number of nights. You can put in a request for a Saturday to Wednesday stay for instance and nothing available, but add one day and suddenly you get loads of options. Another issue is I recently tried to get an 8 night stay in December at POFQ. I put in the full 8 nights and not available. I put in 6 nights and it's available. Just for laughs, a few minutes later, I decide maybe I'll do a split stay. I put in the other 2 nights and what happens, the POFQ is available--WHAT?? Others on this site say this has happened to them before. In the end, I made the 2nd reservation and then called and Guest Services combined the reservations and refunded my 2nd deposit. I hope someday they fix all of these issues. I realize they have to have a pretty complex system with millions of people trying to get any of the 20 resorts under all kinds of possible discounts and special offers. Oh well, I'll just keep my fingers crossed.

All personal opinion - I'm not necessarily right, no one else is necessarily wrong.

There is no Website. There is only an experiment - with YOU as the Guinea Pig :). This is not necessary - consider the performance of Amazon. Consider that WDW COULD simply outsource business website operations to Amazon - any time they like.

I own no Disney, or Amazon stock. No financial dog in this fight. I just hate to see a wonderful company FAIL, weekly, because of a rotten business Website.

For now? Here is the solution: Same solution since October 1, 1971. It really HELPS to have a phone with speakerphone, and a good hour to spare:
