I can't go during free dining. Need some consolation words.

Ok,

There is absolutely no way I can change my plans. We'll be there during Aug. 4-11 a week shy of the dining promotion. Uhhhhh!

What do you think the crowds will be like during the week we'll be there?

:confused3

By August the crowds tend to thin out a bit as many children are ready to return to school. Look at the bright side, you will not be competing for ADR's, forced to eat in makeshift restaurants designed to fit the overflow of patrons on the DP, and you will avoid some of the anxiety associated with peak hurricane season. The way I look at the discounts are like if they work out for me fine, but I do not plan my life around them. Just like I feel about AP rates and codes, book where you can afford and if something awesome comes along and works for you apply it or upgrade, but don't plan your life around the what ifs.

If it makes you feel any better, we are going Aug. 3-12! We absolutely have to come home on the 12th because DS starts 5th grade on the 14th. We missed it last year by 10 days - checked in Oct. 14. I look at it like this: my vacation isn't costing me more than it was to begin with. Yes, it absolutely sucks to miss the free dining because it would have saved us $800. But we're still going to Disney and we will still have fun. We still get the dining plan, we're just paying for it! I made my ADRs at 180 days so they are finished, but nobody is going to change dates to come in BEFORE free dining starts.

The first week of August was rated as having the highest crowds of any week out of the entire summer. I don't know if free dining will be enough of an incentive to move enough people to make a difference in crowds, but I HOPE it does! :)

Honestly, the dining plan is just way to0 much food. I mean I don't eat an appetizer, entree and dessert everytime I go to a TS restaurant. Not to mention a full CS meal combo plus dessert. Then snacks on top of that! A lot of stress and planning. It is just too much. Yes, free is nice but it is kind of wasteful and not exactly healthy either.

How’s this for making you feel better?

According to the National hurricane center, they have moved the start of the hurricane season from June 1st, to August 13, and ending on September 30, 2006. If memory serves my correctly, those are the dates of the free dining. You done goooood. Think of all those people running for ADR's when the eye passes over.

Or

:furious: Reality.....Like in my position.... Not finding this site until after you have booked…Making non-refundable airline reservations for 5, only to find the same flights later, for less than half the price... Making the mistake of telling some relatives (you can't stand) about going, and them telling you a week later, they just booked for the same week, in the same resort and what a great idea we had... Your oldest DS that is going with you, tells you that their part time work place, will not give them that week off, because of them being to busy in the early summer months...The relative mentioned earlier tells you that they have invited other relatives (you can't stand) over for a few days, so that we can all be together. Now knowing I have invested a little over 7 grand in a trip that will only be fun, when I am with my DW, DS, DD and DD alone, and the thought of that is looking very bleak. :furious:
