I can't get any avatars! HELP

I used to have an avatar and it worked fine then they took them away, BUT . . .now that they are back I just get a box with a red X in it . . .I tried to browse avatars and I get the same boxes with the red X's . . .why???

Maybe its because I'm using Windows XP? I dunno . . . .I want my avatar!!! Please help!!
