i can't defrag.

i'm so confused. i turn off my screensaver, close all active programs, unplug my internet, and i still can't defrag. it keeps restarting saying the disk has changed, or whatever that message is, you know.

can anyone help?

Hes..have you turned off your virus scan too?

Hes, you have to have all applications (screen savers and anything in the start menu) closed and if you are hooked up to the internet via a cable modem or other type of connection like that (not phone) you'll have to unplug that too (connection to the wall & router/hub if you have one). If all that is done and you still have no luck, restart your computer through safe mode and do it there. That should work.

Spago. . you might have a program running in the background. . hold down alt+control+delete to see. . . on windows, your System tray, Explorer, and the defrag should be the only things necessary. . .
