I've come to the conclusion, I simply should not be working anymore. In any job, you're bound to have to deal with people, and I have run my course. I talk to probably 150 customers a day at my job. Of those, I'd say 25% are either mean, think they know everything, cheap as the day is long, or as dumb as a doorknob.

I try to be patient, but I can see it coming to an end.

Anyone else ever feel like this?

I get this way all the time. Thankfully I only get a heavy volume of calls for about 10 days a month- right after a billing cycle. I truly am at my wits end usually by the 5th or 6th day. I find myself getting alittle snippy w/ people. I usually can get myself back in check by trying to relate these people to a relative or something. I'm not sure what types of calls your taking....mine are for medical bills- so I try to think of my parents or grandparents and I'd want someone to be kind and try to explain things- it will usually get me back to my normal self.

Yes! I work at a high school for an administrator and all I see all day long is the kids who are written up for stupid/bad things that they do. I have approximately 560 students in my house office which handles part of the alphabet and I see the same 20 - 50 kids every week . . .you think they would just learn their lesson and behave, but nope . . .they all try to buck the system, put on a stupid face and say "I didn't do nuttin" I just don't get it . . .I'm wondering why their parents aren't doing anything about their behavior problem that they are having in school . . . :confused3 It just gets aggravating day after day dealing with all the b.s. that comes my way . . .my daily saying is "I'm going up to the roof and jumping!" :rotfl:

I won't get into speficics, but yesterday for example, I got a call from a woman who insisted a credit for an item that she was quoted $9.98 for, and was charged $10.05.

Her phone call cost more money than the credit was worth.

LOL

Well, I shouldn't be driving any more.

I swear - if there is an old man with poor eyesight and a "brake happy" foot out there driving...I get stuck behind him.

don't even get me started on this subject - I rant about it all the time

don't know how many people get their jobs, MUCH LESS keep it afterwards.

stupid stupid stupid
and more crazy.................... :confused3 :confused3 :confused3

It's amazing, isn't it?

I talk to some of these people and I just don't understand it. I swear, some of these companies post help wanted ads that read:

Looking for slow people with no common sense, with nothing better to do with their time other than to complain about the most insignificant detail imaginable.

omg...this made me :rotfl: This is EXACTLY how I feel alot of the time!

Luckily I don't work retail anymore... :cheer2:

Oddly, the folks I would come across in retail I didn't mind as much as the people I come across now.

I guess I expect a bit more out of people that actually work for other businesses than just regular customers.

Most times, I like people. I enjoy them. But, I don't enjoy when I am forced to wonder why some people are like they are.

Saturday night, I had to send a delivery driver out to a customer with an free order of hot wings ($7.00) because her original order did not have any blue cheese with it. It had gotten mixed up with an order that requested no blue cheese. She got none, the person who wanted one, got extra. She called, and I offered to send someone right out with the blue cheese and apologized. She the proceeded to WHINE that by then her wings would be cold. I was utterly speechess for a moment. I was trying to figure out if it was her way of saying she wanted her wings fresh out of the oven. So, I asked her if there was a way she could heat them up in her house, and she whined that her microwave was broken. O-kAAAY. I will send you out a fresh order of wings. I was so flipping mad. She didn't even tip the driver the 1st time (before she knew her order was messed up, so she had not intended on tipping him) and now I am sending someone out to her again, with free food? THIS is what i hate about customer service, is that I can't tell people what i really want to. I have to smile nice and pretty, when I really want to scream sometimes.

Ohhh, I hope I was *nice* to the Domino's people??

Last weekend we had a birthday party for my son at LaserQuest. LaserQuest partners up with a local Dominos pizza and they gave me the number to call and told me when to tell them I wanted the pizza. The 4 pizzas were to arrive at a bit before 6:00 p.m. The order taker went over the whole order with me the day before the party and said they would be there at about 5:50. Well, at 6:05 there was no pizza. I called and explained the situation to the manager. She apologized (they "lost" my order) and said she could have it there in 15 minutes. I said "well, the party is almost over now." She insisted that she would get it there. She indeed did, didn't charge me for the pizza. I felt guilty and I gave her a tip. She didn't want to take it, but I insisted. Later on at work, a co-worker said I should have paid her for the pizza. :confused3

now THAT'S good customer service.

You dit the right thing...you attempted to pay for the pizzas...they declined. You still tipped. Done. end of story.

That's how a business KEEPS customers. They messed up, got your your pizzas late...and ate the charge of it to keep you happy.

She was so darned nice too!!! I do wonder if she went back to her store and complained about me??? :teeth:

I think everyone gets that way from time to time. I'm lucky--I work with faculty and students and just about the time I'm ready to get out a big stick and start beating the next person to ask me a stupid question or throws a hissy fit over something trivial--the semester ends and they all go away for a few weeks. :rotfl: Thank heavens--I was practically pushing them out the door last week.

No, you should not have paid for the pizza. Dominos is huge on customer service, they will do anything to keep a customer. "Whatever it takes" is the motto. In your case, I would of been happy to send you out the pizza free, I would of also thrown in a free side order. When we screw up like that, we are more than happy to do whatever it takes to keep you happy. But things like free food because of a forgotten 30 cent cup of blue cheese? that is when it bugs me how far we have to go. :)

BTW, thanks for tipping the driver! :)

The driver was the manager. She said she was going to deliver it HERSELF to make sure it was there.

Complain? Not likely. You offered to pay, AND you gave her a tip when it involved free food. That driver will be fighting to take any future deliveries out to you. The driver was singing you praises, I can guarantee it.

Edited to add, now that I know it was the manager, she was still happy you gave her a tip, because it meant that you would of tipped a regular driver. We LOVE customers like you. The manager was not complaining about you. :)

Geez - Another thing I can't stand.

I get this call from a woman who places an order. We deliver next day. However, tomorrow, we close at noon for the holiday. She does too. I tell her, if it's not there tomorrow, it'll be there Tuesday.

"Is there any you can mark it as emergency so we get it tomorrow?"

I can't STAND that. We don't put one customer above another. If we did that, we wouldn't get half of our deliveries made.

UUUUUGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!

I'm sorry, but if I was that customer I would have been really annoyed too. I only eat hot wings with bleu cheese and I only like them fresh. Reheated wings are among one of the most vile things on the planet. If I had placed an order and they screwed it up and I called to complain, I'd be really cheesed off if they told me "oh, just microwave them." How about you bring me what I ordered and you take the cold, greasy, congealed wings and microwave them yourself? Sheesh. It's not unreasonable IMO to expect that you get what you pay for. That she didn't tip the driver is irrelevant to your response to her. You wouldn't have had to send out free food if you didn't screw up her order.

I do always tip the driver but geez, when did screwing up someone's order become the customer's fault? No wonder customer service has gone down the tubes nowadays. I always try to be nice to the customer service people I deal with because I have been there, done that but if I detected this kind of attitude (someone is WHINING because they didn't get what they paid for) I'd probably lose my patience.

I too work with faculty and college students who are now gone for 5 weeks :cloud9: I love having the students around, but really love it when they're gone!!! I love when someone punches a hole in a wall, because they were angry with their professor who wouldn't let them take their final again because they didn't do well the first time (this was in First Aid/CPR) sorry, your manniquin died ... the manniquin only had one final!!!) Hmm, I think a final is called a final for a reason, but I don't quite know why!!!!

Or when the professor wouldn't let one kid take his final because he arrived 45 minutes late... hmm, yeah~ hand him his sign!!!
