I Can't Believe We Ate the Whole Thing! 15 Nights of DDP with photos...!

Oh yummo! I love smoothies sooooooo much, especially the pina colada/strawberry ones. My mouth is watering now. Can't wait to use a snack credit.........

"It's a Small World......." I was at Mike's Pastry on Sat. night. Goodness gracious, the lines are crazy. I commented at the time that they should hire Disney to create their queue for them. Have to say though, if anyone is ever in the area, best cake ever is from the Konditor Meister in Braintree, MA. OH YES. Sorry to be OT.

Really awesome food report. My DS9 got a real kick out of your son discovering the sour candy. I have to stop reading this thread when I am hungry though.

YES Konidter meister!!! all of my friends' wedding cakes have been from there, so i have probably tried at least 6 flavors so far..YUM.
sorry..OT..:goodvibes

I've lived in MA nearly my whole life (first 8 mths were in Texas) and I've never had a Konditor Meister cake.

Just found your dining review today and am loving it!!! Your son is so cute and the picture of him after eating the sour candy is just priceless! It looks just like DD6's face when she eats lemons at a restaurant (and she's been doing that since she was less than a year old).

By the way, as another grocery store cake fan, I have to tell you that you can sometimes buy the icing alone (:cloud9: ) by the pound, depending on the store. I bought a big tub of pink icing last year at Kroger's to do extra decorations on DD's b-day cake we made at home--WOW! Nothing like 2 lbs. of pink icing in your fridge...mmmm... And I'm with you; whipped icing is NASTY! :scared1: It must be the shortening/sugar type!

Can't wait to read more!

I am so going to do that!!!!!!!!!

Just finished reading the whole thing... I still have 102 days to go and those are going to be an agonizingly long 102 days... but your food thread helps me get through each day a little easier ;)

Your breakfast looked lovely, fizzy drink for breakfast only on holiday :rotfl2: Must get a smoothie too

Subscribing:thumbsup2 Thanks for the awesome reviews. I have to say that your son is so adoreable. I love the birthday picture and the sour picture is priceless. Can't wait for more!

This was the best meal of the whole trip - just wonderful. And worth every one of its 4 credits for the two of us.

Dh had a coke and I decided on a raspberry mojito:

We were served sourdough rolls and pull apart rolls. These come with butter and roasted garlic, which is just heavenly.

Let me just say - if you like garlic, this is just outstanding. It spreads smoothly on the bread and blends perfectly. A definitely favorite of ours!

DH went boring on me and ordered his favorite: the caesar salad.

He said it was very good and after a taste I agreed. But it came no where close to my appetizer:

Grilled Asparagus - with Spring garlic vinaigrette, goat cheese and serrano ham.

This was just amazing. The asparagus was perfectly cooked, the cheese was salty and tangy, the serrano ham was crispy and smoky and the vinaigrette was just wonderful with it. I absolutely loved it. It was very rich though - I shared some with DH and had to leave some on my plate.

For his entree, DH ordered the Porterhouse, medium rare. Allears description: Porterhouse - 24 oz. center cut porterhouse, served with fingerling potatoes and roasted garlic butter

Another view to see the potatoes:

DH loved this - and I can say it was ginormous!!!! I tried a little of it and the potatoes and both were just excellent. You can see the garlic butter melting on it as well.

My entree was the USDA Prime New York Strip Steak - 12 oz. strip steak, served with peppercorn brandy sauce and potato gratin.

Oh. My. God.

This steak was tender and perfect. The sauce it came with was peppery and delicious and worked so well with the steak. The gratin potatoes were made with several kinds of cheese. The potatoes themselves were rich and creamy with a crumbly crunchy cheesy crust. The whole plate was just incredible.

For dessert, the only choice for DH after 24 ounces of porterhouse was the light sorbet trio:

He said it was light and perfect to end his rich meal.

I opted for the YOMD Dessert. It was one of the best desserts I had the whole trip (can you tell this was a great meal???) This was the Black Currant Semi Frozen Mousse with Vanilla Pannacotta and Winter Berries:

This was also light, creamy, sweet AND tart and just the right size. The berries and the sauce were perfect with the mousse and pannacotta and our server was kind enough to get me a cup to take the white chocolate castle back to the room for DS.

Again...the perfect meal!

That meal looks gorgeous!!!!

Can I ask whether you got any funny looks when taking photos of the food? I want to do a review of my august meals!

That meal does sound wonderful. I love porterhouse steak - medium rare! No way would you get me to order your appetizer though! But...your dessert looks the bestest EVER!

I decided on a raspberry mojito:

There it is - lovely :thumbsup2

Absolutely everything, with the exception of the asparagus, about that meal sounds and looks divine. Yum, yum, yummety yum.

Oh, and by the way DM, I have a diet coke for breakfast every day too - no better way to start the day :thumbsup2

Not really, nope. I just do it really quickly and it's done. I do have tons of photos of DH and DS though from last trip and some this trip, depending on how comfortable I felt...:rotfl: I aim the camera at them, take a photo, aim at them again and quickly dip the camera down and shoot the food, back to them, another photo...

:rotfl:

I figure, I don't know any of these people and they'll just remember me a the kooky lady who took a photo of her steak while she was taking a photo of her honey...;)

HA! I forgot a lot of people don't like asparagus! You can see your other options in the photo with the bread ;)

And the dessert was gorgeous and delicious...!

Joh - that mojito was so good!!! It actually had crushed raspberries in it. And I think it was about $7, which was a lot less than we expected.

I used to have a diet coke every morning too...then I went off caffeine for about 3 months before the trip. Then back to my beloved dc's.

I'm off again now. And I had the monster headache yesterday to prove it. :sad2:

Okay...this is the the odd thing about me. Yes, I have Diet Coke in the morning for breakfast. But it has to be caffeine-free Diet Coke! Kind of defeats the purpose, eh? :lmao:
