Ok, we are going to DW and we were SUPPOSED to go to Universal to see Harry Potter land since the customer service rep for Universal told us Harry Potter land was opening in APRIL..NOW they moved the opening to 2 days AFTER we were supposed to go there. We are all sooooo mad, and if we had planned our trip for May, JUST to see Harry Potter land, like I'm sure some people have done, then they change the date without any explanation, our whole trip would have been wrecked. Now we have to wait like 8-10 yrs to see Harry Potter Land....RRRRRRRRRRRRR!

According to Mugglenet:

Two separate sources at Universal confirm that this vacation package, which is still available from Universal Orlando's web-site and will continue to be available, is legitimate and will be honored. Those who opt to buy the vacation package and travel on May 28th will get what they've paid for. This means, technically, if you choose the package you will be among the first to visit and see the park.

Also confirmed by a Universal representative, the notion of a "soft open" or a preliminary period of the park being open to the public before the grand opening of June 18th is sound, but no specific dates are known at this time. So there will be opportunities for guests to access the park prior to the grand opening week, particularly by way of purchasing this "early access" vacation package mentioned above.

If you're going to be there 2 days before the opening, and you've got the package, then you're lucky! You get an exclusive preview, with (hopefully) fewer crowds.

Even if you didn't buy the package, chances are very good you'll get to see it.

If you reserved your trip on the 28th of may throughout sometime before/on the 17th (ex: June 5-10) before last thursday, March 25th and your reservation is on site or you purchased a WWoHP package, then you should be able to go during that time, even though it is unclear how much you will be able to do.

Summary:
If you reserved your stay in the time that it opens (may 28th) to some date before the 18th of June (Grand opening) before the 25th of March, and you either are staying on site or you purchased the WWoHP package, then you will be able to go.

Still don't understand? Send me a message on my profile.

Thanks guys, but we are not staying the night on the Universal property, or buying a pkg because we were taking 1 day from DW to run over to Universal, so, we're still out of luck. That link to the other Harry Potter forum was very helpful, thanks.

When you say a customer service rep for Universal, do you mean that you called Guest Services at the Universal Parks in Orlando and they told you the park would be opening in April?

Yeah...I can't believe GS told anyone WWoHP would be open in April. I think everyone knew that was way to soon.

I too was told that WWOHP would be open by May 28 by Guest Services. Had I known that I had to book a package, I would have done so. We are going 6/1-6/8....good thing I love Disney World. :-)
