I Can't Believe I Invited My MIL -I'm BAAACK! And determiend to finish this thing!

Hey All!

Wapatula. (Pron: WAP-A-TULLE-AH)

See how it has the word "tulle" in it? Hmm? That's so's Southern Sorority sisters wouldn't feel like they were tacky, common, drunken skunks; but rather refined ladies, that just happen to drink out of trash cans before they puke on the front porches of grande antebellum estates. Okay, grande faux antebellum estates, but you know what I mean.

I agree. CRT should serve champagne. And maybe a little wapatula for the kiddies. :thumbsup2 Great idea. Might make all of Fantasyland more doable. Or less doable, depending.

OH! EVERYONE! (and by "everyone" I mean any one that hasn't posted but may be lurking and silently disapproving--I know you are out there) CALM! DOWN! I am not condoning alcohol use for minors!

desieab, I may just do a trip report yet. Beware of what you wish for. I am still tripping that you and Paula Deen are close friends! Okay, I know you never said that you were close friends, and I know that technically you never ever said you were friends, but I decided that since it made me feel cool to know someone in cyber space that had their picture made with Paula Deen, I would be even more cool if I made up some stuff about how me and you are good friends, and Paula Deen came over to make wapatula and personally put the toothpicks in those little weinie hors d'oevres at Heather's party. So. What do you think? Have I succesfully made the leap to cyber-fantasyville?

Heather. I thought everyone your age (you mere child, you!) was named Jennifer. Were there a lot of Jennifers in your classes? And also, did you want me to bring metal or plastic? Both have their merits. Metal keeps the punch cooler, but sometimes leaves an aftertaste. Plastic is lighter weight, so when the police arrive (and make no mistake--the police will arrive) and the punch needs to be dumped out in the upstairs bathtub, the handles are not as likely to cut into one's hands. I am thinking of emailing Martha that tip, BTW.

Well, think about it and get back to me.

I am making caramel apple bars today. Anybody want some? AND, Moms, get this: I am making the bars as part of a package of sugar laden delights I am sending to my daughter for Halloween--that means my grandson!! Bah ha ha! I am soooo evil! Come here my little pretty, and let Grandma give you a cookie! And you know the drill...DON'T TELL.

Actually, I am something of a health freak. Booze notwithstanding. But really it's a form of therapy, you see. Anywho, when I was at the market yesterday I had a heck of a time finding the stuff in those white flour white sugar chocolate chipped unhealthy "inner aisles".

I was a little  about it, but I'm okay now.

Everyone that is jealous Heather is leaving so soon, raise your hands! :yay:

I honestly love that my PTR has become the haven for boozers that it is today. I wouldn't have it any other way.

Because, for reals, when you spend 7 consectutive days and nights with your MIL, you are going to need a little booze.

And some of desiab's skittles.

I may have to transport some gin in a jelly jar, as SeptemberGirl's Mom likes to do from time to time....

In repsonse to Kandi, yes, there were many Jennifers. There were always lots of Heathers, too...On the street I live on today there are 5, count 'em -5! of us Heathers. Too crazy. Luckily, I got here first, and I have a loud obnoxious personality. So I am known as just "Heather." The rest are "Heather D., Heather R., short Heather, and Brunette Heather."

I think it is a somewhat hilarious sign of the times that "Heather" is now a Mom name.... When i was kid it was Mary, Donna, Linda, Susan.... That was nearly everyone's moms name. Just imagine 20 years from now...All the Moms will be named Madison and Taylor and Heathers will be Grandmothers.

I feel depressed.

Does anyone have a martini? Or even some punch in a garbage can?

No punch, but do you want a swig of Boone's Farm? I have some here in my backpack.

Jennifer, Heather and Heidi. The only names that you were allowed to name your baby girl in the 70's. There were 5 of us Heidi's in one neighborhood growning up.

Oh and who does Jordan think he is calling us boozers. He's the one with kitty whiskers and ROSS drawn on him in his pre-trippie.

:yay: Me raising my jealous hands for your upcoming trip.:)
I think you are going to need a LOT of booze.:)
When my MIL comes to visit I head over to my friends' house . She makes Christmas rum balls all year long and is on a first name basis with the owner of the local liquor store ( "package" stores as you Southerners like to call them ;) ) If MIL is becoming too "intense" (me being nice again) I just find a reason to go talk to my neighbor and she hooks me up. Her MIL lives in our town so she is always prepared.
Seriously, I think your trip is going to be great and I also don't think MILs are all terrible. I happen to have 2, my husbands mom and his step-mom. The step is great- the mom is the intense one but I still love her. I had to put that last part in just in case she knows about this web site.:rolleyes1

You are cracking me up! If you like, we can photoshop the picture to add you and Heather to it and then your cyber-fantasy will be more believable.
:wizard:

I am very jealous that Heather is leaving us. But I keep reminding myself that I will be getting the envious posts in just a few short weeks.

Well, I am certinaly glad someone brought that up about Jordan. I think he likes us because he is a Boozer himself!! Also, I just think it is nice to have a smidgen of testosterone around here, so, stick around Jordan!!!

Package stores, ah, yes. That is indeed what we call them. Like no one knows what is the long skinny brown paper "package" with the bottle top sticking out of it? Puh-leeze. But yes, Southerners are infamous for hiding their boozing ways from others.

Me - I don't hide.

Think how jealous I'll be when my trip is over...Though I can't wait for my trip, I almost hate for it to get here. Because then I have to come home. And my trip is over. And then what???

I'll read ya'll's TRs!!! Yay!!

I'm so glad to know that other people's family members travel with Ball Jars of gin - I think it would probably be pretty charming if my mom was, say, in her 70's and Southern, but as it is she's 60 and from the Midwest. :rolleyes1 But God Bless her - someone had to teach me about gin. :)

As for MILs, the topic at hand, the best thing about mine is that she's a lush. No, really. Imagine coming from my family - the little you know says a lot about our appreciation for booze - and having holidays with someone who didn't drink. That would be awkward. In fact, the very best times I've had with her involve my mom and she playing cards late into the night, with a few bottles of wine on the far end of the table for easy access.

Now don't you want to vacation with us? :lmao:

Strawberry Hill.

(it's a bit sad that I still know the name of the favor that went to many a frat party with me)

There are other stories from college and my late 20's that would put the ross picture to shame. Let's just say this...The gutter was my friend one night.

I seem to remember liking some ridiculously-named flavor of Boone's Farm... It was sort of clear in color, and I think it was called Snowberry Creek or something along those lines.... Honestly, I don't much cotton to the sweetie drinks...I prefer my wine dry and, most often, red. But when I was young and poor, Boone's Farm did me just fine thankyouverymuch.

I think we need to get tgoether for a Boone's Farm/garbage can punch party soon, my friends. Eevryone is invited. We can celebreate the fact that my trip is in 17 DAYS!!!!!!!

17 DAYS PEOPLE!!

Jealous much? ;)

:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Sometimes there is just nothing like a nice cool, hard gutter.... Or a nice cool, hard bathroom floor......

Yeah, lots of estrogen here...but it's cool.

I'll hang around.:thumbsup2

Yay - we've snared one, ladies!!!!

:offtopic:

Just a warning, very few (if any!) of these random musings (blatherings?) will be about my trip, which is coming up in 17 DAYS!!!! I just can't believe it!!!! So, those of you who are here for the trip and nuttin' but the trip, feel free to skip this post in its entireity. I won't be mad.

At least, not all THAT mad.

Maybe a little hurt. And disheartened. But don't let that stop you from moving onto the next TR right now, if that is what you want to do....

Still here?? Ok - let's go!!

Well, this morning I am getting some work done on the computer (duh). You see, I work for an online tutoring company. This allows me to still be doing something in the realm of education (I"m a high school teacher), while staying at home with the kiddos. So, anywho, THE PRINCESS is watching some 'toons right now...I went into the den to check on her, and I find her watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse like this:

IMGP0198.jpg

ignore the demon eyes

Are my kids Disney-Freaks, or what??? I am so proud!! We bought these stuffed animals at the Disney Store while on a trip to Gatlinburg a few months ago. The Mickey is Buzz's, she is just "babysitting" him while Buzz is in school. THE PRINCESS chose the Pluto. She loves him. In fact, she was obsessed for awhile. When we bought the stroller I mentioned a few posts ago, she started crying when I told her she could sit it in all she wants to while at WDW. Bewildered, I asked her what on earth was wrong... As you recall, she lvoed making us all push her around in that that thing when we bought it. She said, through tears...
"Pluto won't be able to hug me if I'm in a stroller."

How precious is that? You see, we have watched the Disney planning DVD many many times, and they show a scene of a parade where Pluto goes over and hugs a little girl on the side of the road. THE PRINCESS is convinced this exact thing will happen to her... here's hoping!!!

While we are on this topic, can I just say that I am so glad they are bringing back some classic Disney characters to TV? When Buzz was 2-3, Playhouse Disney was nothing but Rolie Polie Olie and Stanley. These were nice, but he never got into them, and they neevr Disney-esque to me. So Buzz went over to THE DARK SIDE. He developed an affinity for Dora, Diego and Jimmy Neutron - gasp! :scared1: But once Mickey Mouse Clubhouse premiered, both kids became devotees. The even like Handy Manny, though that one gets on my last (and only) nerve. THE PRINCESS also enjoys My Friends Tigger and Pooh, but its a bit young-ish for Buzz, I guess. He doesn't like it. In fact, he is not a big TV watcher at all. He does like movies, which he watches on Saturday mornings when Mommy and Daddy are sleeping the sleep of the we-stayed-up-too-late-and-drank-too-much-wine-and-bourbon. He gets up at 6am, pops in his DVD, and is happy until 7:30. Magic, I tell you!!! HIs current faves are Cars, Nemo, Monsters Inc, Incredibles and Peter Pan. If THE PRINCESS is awake in time for movie-choosing (she is usually asleep until 6:30 or so), then it will be Alladin or Litlte Mermaid, maybe Cinderella if she can work her magic. We also went through a long Mary Poppins phase, which was enjoyabe for me.

Someone once gave Buzz Flushed Away. Sacrilege. It is currently hidden behind the Lord of the Ring DVDs, and we don't speak of it.

You know what? Now that I think of it, it was MIL who gave him that movie. We need to really work on that woman while in WDW, I tell you.

Ok, so many of you (ok, two of you), have been asking for pics of my brother's wedding, which was a few weekends ago. Sadly, I don't have many. I relied on our family friend, a prof. photog, to take pics all day. And she hasn't sent the link to them yet. So I'll show you what I do have, so these ceaseless PMs begging me for pics can stop. Yes, those two PMs got seriously annoying. :rotfl: Just kidding - I love it!! And I love you both!

This is Buzz:
IMG_5027.jpg

just tilt your head to the left to view this pic

He loved eevrything about this tiny tux except the bow tie. He said is hurt his neck, which I doubt. But we let him take it off after pictures and such. Doesn't he look pimp?

Here is THE PRINCESS:
IMG_5028.jpg

As you can tell, it was 90+ degress out that day, and the wedding was outdoors. We were so dadgum hot it was ridiculous. And it was the Midwest! In October!!

OK, one more...Here is one of the kiddos and I the day before the wedding:
IMGP0185.jpg

As you can see, no one was particularly happy about having this picture taken. The kiddos just wanted to run off and play with their cousins. But I still kind of like this picture. Since I am always taking the pictures, there are few pics of the kids and I in existence. They'll probably look back when I 'm dead and gone and assume I was always off on trips or something while they were growing up. :sad2:

OK, enough Random Musings (blatherings?) for one day.....

your babies are BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!

about the booze. I was never a boones farm person, BUT am I alone in the random likings of Purple Passion? anyone??? I had my first one my freshman year in college, ahhhh the memories...

Heather, you and your entire family are beautiful. Simply precious. The pic of your daughter took me back to when my own babies were babies. WRT your random musings: my grandson's other grandma (whom I actually like) gave my DGS a Dora the Explorer van for his first birthday. My daughter and I were aghast. What was she thinking, we wondered? Even my SIL (whom I actually like) requested no more Dora stuff, as he thinks it is too feminine. :rotfl: Not macho, like Mickey. Pluto is my favorite, too. I hope The Princess gets her wish. I have a dog (a real one) that looks a lot like Pluto, MOF. I need to download some pics, and do my own PTR I guess. Stop intruding so much on yours. I would but I am basically very lazy.

My oldest daughter insisted on getting married outside in September. It was the hottest day in something like 200 years. We are all still traumatized, and that was, like, 5 years ago. It's a wonder the girls and I (her sisters were bridesmaids) didn't spontaneoulsy combust from all the hair spray we used. We even sprayed our faces to keep our make-up from running.

You know it is sacrilege for your DH to mix Maker's Mark with 7-Up, right?

Sacrilege.

Anyway, meriann, I love you because you are married to a Marine. My daddy was a Marine, saw 86 continuous days of combat on Okinawa with the Striking Sixth. My SIL was one of the first Marines in Afghanistan after 9/11, but this was before we knew him. That was good because I probably would have more gray hair than I already have. Although you can't see the gray hair, because it is covered up by my hair colorist's special elixirs and potions. So I'm a "blonde", just like always. Ah, the miracle of modern science. Anyway. When you get back, will you give a report on SOG? Have you ever stayed at Hale Koa, the R&R hotel on Waikiki Beach? It's fabulous. My other poor SIL is in the <whispering> Army, but we still invite him over and make a point to make eye contact and everything. We try to appreciate that he is not bad, per se, just differently abled. :cool2: Semper fi, as they say.

Boone's Farm. Purple Passion. Really, ladies. I'm shocked! :snooty: Even in my college daze it was MM all the way. I may have been in on the making of the Waputula, but I never imbibed. Sweet stuff is what gives you the hangover. :headache:

See the lessons your elders can teach you? :flower3:

I am in for the long haul my friend. You are going to seriously get sick of me! ;)

It is nice that you can work from home. I was suppose to start a job as an online assistant, but that fell through. Now I am on an eternal quest to actually make money on the computer that I sit in front of all day.

Your kiddos are really adorable! I know exactly what you mean about not being in the pictures. In my case I hate the way I look in pictures, so I try to avoid them. I promised DH that if I lose 20 pounds by the time we go in January I will book a Grand Floridian photo shoot and take anniversary pictures. He was excited and actually considers that to be part of his anniversary gift. :confused3

You just keep right on blathering if you feel like it.

Oh, wait...did I somehow give the impression that I actually make MONEY doing my online gig? Ha! As if!! Its practically charity work! I might make enough this week to buy everyone dinner at a TS in the MK while on our trip, but it is doubtful.

This gig is purely for the resume, baby.

Thanks, girl!!! And can I just say, I find you to be one hot mama, so please - get those pictures made at GF, screw those 20 pounds!!!!

I love the "Random Musings"!! Your family is beautiful.

I know what you mean about not being in the pictures. I have vowed to get some photopass pictures just so I can prove I was there with Bill :rotfl:. I can't believe we are both so close to our trips :yay:.

I hope your Princess gets her dream of Pluto hugging her. She is so smart to think about the stroller issue.

Thankyou dear Kandikin! My great uncle was at Mt. Suribachi so when I married a marine HE WAS ELATED! My dad was army and never let my mom have a break about marrying an army guy.

My dh's sis married an army guy last year and it STILL pains my hubby. LOL No offence to army in any way, but MARINES ROCK!

We haven't been to HI yet. We were suppose to spend 4 days at the Hale Koa on our pcs from Okinawa but our orders were changed and we had to get to the states fast.

We stayed at SOG this Jan for 1 night and LOVED it so I can't wait to go back next summer. If you can get your dd and her hubby to sponser you all, I say go for SOG, the rooms are WONDERFUL and its so quite and close to the MK.

as for the booze. All i can say is, it was cheep and I was poor! now I have refined my tastes and woudn't touch that stuff with a 10ft stick.

How 'bout making her a snazzy Pluto T-shirt to wear? It could have a cute picture of Pluto on it and say something like "Hug me Pluto and my granny will give you 20 bucks"

Boone's Farm. Purple Passion. Really, ladies. I'm shocked! :snooty: Even in my college daze it was MM all the way. I may have been in on the making of the Waputula, but I never imbibed. Sweet stuff is what gives you the hangover. :headache:

Meriann: yup with you on the Purple Passion. We used to drink it from 2 litter bottles

KandiKin: I thought you meant Mad Dog 20/20 when you wrote MM. But you're too much of a lady for that.

My drink of choice now is the bubbly. Mumm NV Brut Cordon Rouge
Yummy!

Purple Passion and Boone's, you people are bringing back blurry memories :lmao:. Wow, I think most of us had that stuff when we were younger. I haven't thought about those drinks for years.
