Huh?:confused3 You should call back and try to talk to someone else in Dining. It seems that many times the CMs give conflicting info. That is CRAZY! I have called there before and made 5 or 6 PS's all in one phone call! They cannot possibly be forcing everyone to only make one PS per day! What sense would that make? What if you only have 3 days until your trip but want to make 6 PS's?

Let us know if you call back and get a more reasonable person because that is just ridiculous! If this is some new Dining policy, we all need to know about it for sure!

Yes, Sherry E is right. It depends on who you talk to sometimes. When I called to make 2 reservations, the CM asked me if I wanted to make anymore. That was last week. I would try again!

Sounds like you got a CM that didn't feel like working... I called earlier this week and made 3 PS reservations. What would really irk me about that is that I would have to make 3 long distance phone calls and sit on hold for who knows how long.

Were you making reservations for your whole trip? I had to call 60 days out from each day of our trip as thier calendar doesnt go beyond 60 days..but I was able to make multiples for my days there though!!
I guess what I am trying to say is(LOL) it is better to call 60 days out from your last day of your trip.

I just called again, was told by another person I can not make them all at once. because my 60 out is for today only , the others are 61 days out, 62 days out, 63 days out etc. I was always able to book for my week before.:confused::confused:

yeah, I will do that in 5 days. I was so excited LOL! and whats up with there attitudes? both were like snotty and I was being so nice, heck I was dripping honey!:lmao::lmao:
I did get my rain forest one in for 65 days out !! he was a snot to, whats with these kids and early morning crankiness:confused3

Yes, that's why, just call back at the end of the 6 days you're good. No worries on getting what you want, unless it's a BB ressie you should be just fine waiting.

thank you :) Yeah I got so excited I was 60 days out, did not think about the other days LOL! I never had a problem making them all at once before :lmao:

I know I was excited too!!! I made the BB ressie 60 days out but for the rest I waited until i was 60 days out from last day of our trip!!!

FYI, Disney Dining at the Disneyland Resort is NOT the same as Disney Dining at Walt Disney World. Sometimes advance priority seating availablity is NOT loaded into the system until exactly 60 days out (typically anything more then 60 days out will be listed in the system as "Closed"). So if it's 61 days out or more, then it might not be in the system for booking regardless of your length of stay. I work with DLR's Disney Dining everyday and this happens all the time. It has nothing to do with laziness or whatever... I'm not trying to be mean but it irks me that folks automatically assume that Cast Members are just being lazy because it's a little offensive. However, the Cast Member you spoke with should have informed you clearly of the 60 day policy so there was no misunderstanding.

Pretty rarely availability gets loaded into the Disney Dining system early, most of the time it does not. Also all information about DLR's Disney Dining states reservations can be made up to 60 days in advance, including the automated message that you get when you first call Disney Dining, not 61+.

Also, Rainforest Cafe does not go through Disney Dining. They have their own system/policies for their own advance dining reservations (I think they take reservations up to 90 days in advance?). What Rainforest Cafe does is their call because they are not handled by Disney Dining.

The more you know... ding ding dong! :)

Burnt Toast, perhaps you could answer a question for me then. I was able to make my ESPN Zone PS through Disney Dining for lunch at 1:30pm (this was earlier in the month)
When we got there at 1:25pm we were told it was a 30 minute wait. I am confused. ESPN Zone said that we didn't have reservations we had priority seating and the other people waiting (which was only about 3 parties) had a longer wait then that and Disney Dining should have explained that to me. (which they did not)
Then (with a 3 year old) I just thought we could go upstairs as he was beggin to do so, the second we hit the first step they closed off the upstairs for a private party.
Now I am pissed. I have a 3 year old that wants to play games, and a 30 minute wait that should not have happened. I talked to the manager who said they make Disney Dining aware of upcoming private parties and once again Disney Dining should have told us (which they did not because I would have booked it for a different day).
What topped this all off? The private party that was schedule wasn't even until 7pm!!!! And all this was at 1:30pm.
Ridiculous and SOMEONE either at ESPN Zone AND/OR Disney Dining DOES NOT know what they are doing.

And Teatime:
regardless of who was right/wrong or whatever NO ONE should have ever been snotty to you. That is not the image Disney represents or wants to display.

I agree they should never be snotty to anyone regardless of why they are calling and it does happen more often than not!!! I have been fairly lucky as I have gotten very friendly CM's but there have been a few in between that were way less than friendly( snotty and downright mean) For the amount of money we spend on a vacation to come visit we deserve some friendliness and less attitude!!
Your treatment at ESPN Zone was terrible I would send off an email to them so it doesn't happen again(prob. will though:()I don't get them closing it off at 1:30 pm for a 7pm party?? But I do know that most dining in the DLR are PS's not ressies Sorry for the way you were treated it just doesn't seem right!!!
I have worked in Customer Service for the last 20+ years and never in any of those years have I been short with a customer, theres no need for it whatever is bothering me they have nothing to do with it (usually;))....
Regardless what your wages are you should always treat your fellow humans with respect and courtesy! Thats my take anyway but I tend to be a very friendly person which is most likely why I have lasted in my industry!!!
It takes so much less energy to smile than to frown!!!! :)

I'm sorry, but there was nothing really to be "pissed" at here, as it sounds like everything happened exactly as it should.

Disney calls them "Priority Seating," not "reservations" for a very specific reason. A reservation is implying that there will be a table waiting for you at a specific time. This is NOT how dining works at Disneyland. You made "Priority Seating" arrangements for 1:30pm. This is exactly what it sounds like. When you arrive, you will be seated with priority over those that do not have a priority seating appointment at that time slot. It sounds like this is exactly what the ESPN Zone CM told you (given the fact that the 3 other parties had a longer wait than you even though you arrived last). Priority Seating is not a fancy term for reservations, it is a different process. You will be seated with priority (after your time slot), but a table is not reserved for your group.

I can't explain why they blocked off the upstairs so early for a private party, but having worked in catering and special events for years I can tell you that depending upon the event, several hours are often needed to prepare.

Glad you got it figured out. It is so frustrating when you are excitedly planning a vacation and someone is rude to you for no reason. There are ways to explain the rules without being snotty. I called DD twice recently, one person was rude, one was awesome. Same with RF Cafe. I almost called back to speak to the manager on the RF cafe kid, he was sassy and totally inappropriate.

ESPN Zone does sell their upstairs to private parties often... and that information is not reflected in the system that we use for Disney Dining, as the upstairs arcade has nothing to do with the restaurant downstairs. Whether information is passed off about when the upstairs is reserved off actually gets to Disney Dining Cast Members is something I don't know about either, since I don't work for that department... I only have access to the Disney Dine system.

Like Walt Disney World, Disney Dining does not offer actual restaurant reservations, but Priority Seating. Priority Seating makes it so are given the soonest available table according to your party size. Basically it puts you ahead of all the walk-in Guests when you check in and behind anyone else who has a PS that checked in before you. This is also stated in the automated message that you have to listen to when you call Disney Dining.

As for closing off the upstairs so early, that I really could not tell you. ESPN Zone is not considered to be part of the Disneyland Resort operation so I don't know exactly how they operate. Disney Dreams does make a good point though that it does take a few hours to prepare for a private party so that might have been the case.

I'm sorry about your 30 minute wait. I've never had to wait that long at ESPN Zone with P.S. More than likely, they had a lot of walk ins that day. But that is exactly why a PS is not a reservation, Disney and it surrounding resteraunts would lose a lot of business if they were just holding tables for people all day long. The PS is just an automatic, push in front of the people waiting who do not have PS.

Like I said... I've never waited long on any PS, but I can understand why it happens.

Exactly what Dreams said.. It's not a reservation, it's just you have priority over those parties that are walk up. Depending on where you made your PS and what day it is you may have to wait and you may not have to.
