I can do this...Karyn's journal to lose 20!

I learned something new this morning. Cheez Whiz is NOT good on a potato!! Yuck!! I only ate about half of it, so I'm going to count 6 points for breakfast. I was up super early this morning, so I'll definately be hungry again before long. We had a big thunderstorm around 4:00 AM, and I've been up since then. The kids have just gotten up, so my day has started!! Will do a Lean Pocket for lunch and something simple for dinner. I got some small boneless roasted chicken "medallions" from Schwan's yesterday, so I'm thinking chicken. I also got some low fat ice cream sandwiches that are only 2 points each. That should help my sweet tooth.

On track so far today! Had 6 pts for breakfast. Ate a Lean Pocket for lunch (6 pts) and a 2 pt ice cream sandwich. At 14 pts for the day, so that leaves me with 6-8 pts for dinner. The chicken is 2 pts a piece and I'l do green beans to go with it. I should still have enough pts tonight for another ice cream sandwich!!

We are going for our "play date" at 2:00, and I am HOPING that she doesn't have snacks!!

Hi, Karyn! Your plan for the day looks great -- chicken and green beans is one of my favorite meals. I also love green beans cold with lemon & garlic or with fat free italian dressing.
Hope you are having fun at your play date and avoiding the snack monster!

Don't you hate when you learn what is not good the hard way? Oh well, at least you'll know what doesn't work on your potato!!

We got some chocolate malt push ups from Schwans, they are SO GOOD! 90 calories, I don't know what that converts to in WW points. We also got some rainbow sherbet bars that are 60 calories each (haven't tried those yet).

Thanks so much for posting that Panda Express info in my journal! I love beef-n-broccoli and that was pretty harmless in calories!

You are doing great, have fun at your playdate! Take some of your own healthy snacks so you are not tempted.

Hi Karyn,

Just got caught up on your journal......potatoes and cheez whiz....never heard of that one!!!! Thanks for the tip that it was not good!!!!!!

You have a great plan for today.

Keep up the good work!

Hey Karyn-

My fingers are crossed for you on the Play Date snacks!

I tried salsa on my potato last night and it was really good. I divided the potato in half and put butter, LF sour cream and 2% cheese on one half. Then substituted the salsa for butter on the other half. (That way if it was yuck- I still had half of a potato.) It was really very good and a nice change.

Hope you have a great day!

I should have split my potato in half this morning...you live and learn! I love Cheez Whiz on chips...just not on potatoes!! I'll go back to my regular cheese tomorrow.

I have done very well today. No snacks at the play date. Jack was on a rampage, so I spent most of the time trying to keep him under control. I got some really good exercise carrying him out to the car. Carrying 58 pounds of squirming, dead weight is a great way to workout! I think that the next play date will be at our house!

Breakfast-the infamous potato (6 pts)

Lunch-Lean Pocket and an ice cream sandwich (8 pts)

Dinner-chicken and green beans (4 pts)

I have enough points left over for another ice cream sandwich tonight. I am so exhausted that I may just go on to bed.

I am very down today. We are having rainy, cloudy weather and it really affects my mood. I know that we have only been in our new town for a little over a month, but we haven't met anyone yet. It's so lonely sitting around the house all day with the kids. :worried: I learned after the fiasco play date yesterday, that taking Jack to anyone else's house is not an option anymore. So...I'm just sitting at home singing Elvis songs while the kids play. (Elvis...you know, "Are You Lonesome Tonight") DH will be home in about a week and I'll get a day off on next Saturday. I think that I'm going to go to Des Moines and spend the day at the state fair. ALL BY MYSELF!!! :cool1:

Anyway, haven't felt a whole lot like eating today, but I did get my daily potato in for breakfast!

Breakfast-potato with light sour cream, 2% cheese, bacon bits, and spray butter (8 pts)

Lunch-1/2 cup Froot Loops (2 pts)-no milk

Hi Karyn,

I am sorry that you are feeling down today! I get that way when the weather turns yucky too!!! Try to stay positive......things will get better.

Keep up the good work

Sorry Karyn!!

I wish I could bottle you up some of my Louisiana sunshine :sunny: and ship it to you. (Sans the oppresive heat, humidity and mosquitos!)

Maybe you can schedule some play dates at your house. Jack might be more agreeable if it is in a familiar environment.

How about trading in the Elvis tunes for "Don't worry Be Happy". A little reggae might dispel some of the gloom.

Chin Up! Tommorah is anothah day.

Just ate a great meal and I had to tell you all about it!! I was watching Food Network one day last week and a chef made mashed potatoes with spinich. So I wilted 3/4 of a bag of baby spinich and made some instant potatoes with skim milk (I like baked potatoes, but I hate real mashed potatoes-go figure). I mixed them up and it was DELICIOUS!! I ate 2 more chicken medallions and had a huge meal for 8 points! I ate an ice cream sandwich for dessert and ended up at 20 points for the day. I put in my WATP 3 mile this afternoon and got 1 1/2 miles done before the phone rang. Then I couldn't get started back.

Breakfast-baked potato (8 pt)

Lunch-1/2 cup Froot Loops (2 pts)

Dinner-chicken and spinich mashed potatoes (8 pts)

snack-ice cream bar (2 pts)

I have noticed as I am reading back over my journal that I am eating fewer and fewer snacks during the day. Every little bit helps!!

I'll admit that I almost decided to completely abandon WISH and take a few weeks off of dieting last night. I have been under a good amount of stress (nothing I can't handle, but more than I'm used to) and I thought that I needed a break. That is... until I got on the scale this morning and realized that I have lost another 1.4 pounds since yesterday. The weight is coming off so slowly that I'm getting a little discouraged. I haven't been able to exercise as much as I want to, but hopefully that will change when school starts. Jack's school is on the same road as the Y, and I can hit it on my way home after dropping him off.

Breakfast this morning was a baked potato (8 pts) and I'm going to try really hard to do the 3 mile WATP today.

Karyn,

Losing slowly will help you keep weight off. 1.4 lbs in one day is a huge amount!

Working out at the Y will help lift your mood. It's also a way to meet some people if you take a class or two. At my Y, they provide free childcare included with your membership. You can take cycling, yoga, step, pilates and a lot of other classes.

I usually just get on the elliptical machine for 65 minutes or the arc trainer. These tell you they "burn" more calories than the treadmill or recumbant bike. I'm also trying to lift weights more frequently.

The joining fee at our Y was cut in half. I pay $44 per month for my membership. I've spent a lot of time there this summer. Maybe you should put on your work out gear and head over to check out the facility. They will probably give you a couple of visits for free.

Karyn~
I am so glad that you decided to stick to it! I am sooo proud of you! It is really easy to through in the towel and give up when life gets tough, but you are obviously a strong person and can get through it! Congrats on the weight loss! There is nothing better than seeing all your hard work pay off!
Have a GREAT weekend! :Pinkbounc

Haven't done the WATP yet. I hope that I can get to it this evening. I just keep putting it off! Not only do I need a "food slapper", I need an "exercise enforcer", too!

I almost blew it at lunch today. I got some breaded chicken patties from Schwan's the other day and I went ahead and fixed 2 of them when I knew that I only needed one. I ate one and part of the other before I stopped myself. So I'm counting 10 pts for what I ate. NOT GOOD!! That only leaves me 2-4 pts for the rest of the evening. (I count 20-22 pts for the day) FOOD SLAPPER...WHERE ARE YOU????? :crazy2:

Well, I ended up going over in points. I was so hungry at 5:00 and Jack wanted pizza. So I made him a frozen pizza and ate about 1/3 of it...probably about 6 points. Then I just had an ice cream sandwich (2 pts) because...well, I needed one. I ended up eating 26 points. That isn't terrible, but I need to stop eating when I'm stressed. It only makes me more stressed. But I knew that if I gave him 1/2 of the pizza that the other half would be in the fridge calling me, so I went ahead and ate some. I never exercised today, but I really need to tomorrow. Now it's time to get the wild kids to bed and start fresh tomorrow. :flower:

I must not have done too much damage yesterday, because the scale still said 132 this morning. Still down 3 pounds. Today won't be so bad. Church this morning and a light lunch today. I never get the time to eat on Sunday mornings, and this morning I have to get Jack and Katelyn ready WITH NO HELP!! I can do this... :flower:

I have done very well today.

Lunch-baked potato (8 pts)

Dinner-I took a can of diced potatoes and browned them in a little butter-added chicken stock. Ate about 1/3 of them...7 pts for the whole can...I will count 4 for what I ate...better to count high than too low

Snack-pineapple and cream cheese sandwich (4 pts)

Snack-1/2 cup Froot Loops (2 pts)

Total...18 pts

I am really full enough right now that I shouldn't need to eat anything else before bed. A good day!! :flower:

Oh Karyn, sorry I haven't been able to get on journals to see that you were having a rough time. I did try to respond back on page 8 but the night that I was doing that, as I hit the Submit button I lost my internet and just didn't get time to get back here. That was very nice of that lady to offer you some help but I'm sorry the play date didn't work out. You'll meet some people - I think once school starts and you can get into a swing of things and meet people with the activities that the kids are doing it will begin to happen.

I'm soooooooo glad you didn't leave us. But sometime the stress of life means you need a break to take care of you - I this very well. Hang in there - we're here!!!!!

And congrats on those weight losses and staying instead of gaining. You are doing great!!!!!!!

Keep on
Chris
