and I need to know what to do! :teeth:

I'm at my mom's house. I saw the look she gave the side of my head when I loaded it into her dishwasher last night. And now I'm unloading this morning, and well...you guessed it...it's cracked!

Okay, to top that off, it's that hideous duck pattern...Marmalade. She collected it from all her friends as they got rid of it--a total of 24 place settings now.

Should I try to find it on Ebay, scour all the local flea markets before she gets home, or FESS UP to the crime and admit she's always right?

I think you'll have to fess up AND look for another one.....although I also like the idea of running them all thru the dishwasher so they match! :rotfl:

Go ahead and 'fess up. She'll forgive you. In fact, if you replace it she'll probably leave you the whole set when she passes

Crimonies. I wish you had posted this earlier! I bought another darned duck bowl on Ebay today and I'm having it shipped to my sister's house. She's going to sneak it in next week.

BTW, it's not about her forgiving me. It's the FORGETTING about it that I can't deal with! :sad2:

I hid the broken bowl under the guest room bed. Anyone have any ideas about how I can get the broken one out of here without her noticing it? :rolleyes1

Ok - I'll bite, what is a duck bowl?

I was wondering the same thing… I am assuming a bowl with a duck pattern… :confused3 . Sounds kinda 'ducky' to me. :rotfl2:

I have a solution but you probably won't want to take my advice :teeth:

When I was a kid I was emptying the dishwasher and a glass slipped out of my hands. I made a quick grab for it and managed to catch it for a split second but immediately dropped it again and it shattered on the floor. My mom started to yell at me but she stopped when I held up my arm. I had a steak knife hanging from it! As I reached down to grab the glass I stabbed myself on a steak knife that someone had put in the silverware tray point up. Fortunately it only went into my arm a tiny bit and didn't do any major damage. But it stopped my mom's complaints dead in her tracks. A mom can't yell at her kid over a broken glass when they have a stab wound!

I don't recommend you try this at home.

If it looks anything like this pattern, I say hide the evidence and pretend like it never happened. :rolleyes1

Thanks for the picture. I had a bowl shaped like a duck pictured in my head andI couldn't for the life of me figure out what you would use it for. - lol

Sorry about the accident, I hope mom is the forgiving type.

If it's a clean break, you could get a silicone adhesive specially made for ceramics & glue it back together. I wouldn't eat on it though, or run it through the dishwasher again. It may be all right to place bread or rolls or fruit on.

How about just sticking it on the bottom of the pile of bowls and hopefully she never uses them all at once for a very long time and then she will never know when it broke. :confused3

Or you could be honest and tell her you caused it to be broken... you didn't actually break it the dishwasher did ;)

Maybe it was already cracked before you put it in there?

Holy crap, you people are corrupting my mind and teaching me how to be devious. :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

?

This is what I think you should do if she has 23 what are the chances It will ever surface.

You guys really make me laugh!

It was a serving bowl. There were only two. :guilty:

OK, so I had to leave town and come back home yesterday. I hid the bowl underneath my bed in her house.

She was checking under the beds to make sure I hadn't left anything...VERY CLOSE CALL...I scooted around to that side of the bed to make sure the bowl was well-hidden behind the wrapping paper boxes she stores under there.

:lmao: LOL, it's really not about her getting mad. It's about the quirkiness of moms and how they're always right. :sunny: My aunt did the same thing. She was visiting my mom and accidently broke the head of a china doll my grandmother had made.

So she stole the doll and took it to have another head made. The doll was gone 3 weeks before Mom acccused me of stealing it! She didn't figure out what happened until my aunt appeared and the doll seemed to be sporting someone else's head.

I'd have to say it was a pretty good replica. I'm sure the darned duck bowl will slide right in and go unnoticed as long as she doesn't look under the bed before my sister can get the replacement into the kitchen! :woohoo:
