Hi all,
Thanks for the advice on OLCC. We decided to go with the 2-bedroom unit there. I know very little about the resort, so I've been doing searches and reading old posts. I am having difficulty finding a resort map, though. I was trying to get a better idea of what section we should request. I guess I don't want to be too far from a pool (I have a 5-year-old) or too far from an exit. I would also like a newer unit. Any advice?

Thanks again!

Go to www.orangelake.com

When you made your ressie did they tell you what # you are in?

I heard they were doing renevations on the old ones to update them.
You really want to go to the West Village Pool Complex. So ask or try to get around there if you have small kids. They have the mushroom pool there as well as the big pool, also the main building. But the new side East village 87000 is a nice area and there is a pool but there isnt any grills there, there also is another exit - by the publix- The north area is good also - but thats in the middle- so the exits are either way, also there is a grill there. Let me know if they gave you a number and where you are staying.

Hopefully there- the website - you can contact them with a map of there place.

Hi Suzy,
Couldn't find the map at orangelake.com, I looked there first. Unfortunately, I will not know my unit number until I get there--this is an RCI "extra vacation" booked through a friend. I'm not even sure if I can make requests until I check in. When I stayed at VR they had Diamond Lane but I see nothing like that on OLCC's site.

So you think that the West Village area is best with a small child?

Thanks

suzy

did you mean NORTH village pool complex, since west village is the oldest section ( the splash lagoon in in the nort village if not mistaken )

requests may or may not be given .... it seems to depend who checks you in...there have been posts that people who are trading in through rci are not given that opportunity and that even "owners" are assigned to the "village" section to which they have "ownership"

as to the new section of olcc, river island, the tour guide told us in december that only those who "own" there will be allowed to stay there...this section is not open yet but they have been saying they will have a spring opening ( when we were there they had a building UP and were working on it, but the pool complex seemed to be "just piles of earth in the ground"

Yes it is the best area... The North area because you can walk to the pool area and the playground is there... mushroom pool... main building... and that is where they have alot of the activities for the guest....

Again ... So sorry :worship:

We are also considering booking this resort through an RCi extra vacation . A friend owns not me.
What fees are involved when booking an extra vacation through RCI, just the RCi guest certificate fee and the cost of the extra vacation.
Also, is the new river country water park available to all guests or do you have to pay an extra fee for this??

Thank you
Suzy V

I had to pay the $49.00 guest certificate fee on top of the rate. No extra fees.

riu

will ask the question about river island when we go next week....and reply after the 28th

thank you lawgs. It looks like such a fabulous resort. I really hope we get to go there .
River Country looks incredible.
Also,do you know if the prices listed on RCI extra vacations are in US or Cdn currency?
I signed in using a Canadian users ID and password.
The guest certificate is coming up as $58 . Thats why I am wondering if the prices are showing in Canadian currency.

would think the prices shown would be CDn$ since the US cost for guest certificated is 49$ US

the costs on extra vacations used to be reasonable .....but as with all things RCI sees they can ca$h in more now that people want them......just like the changes that have happened on skyauction...

I can provide you a map of Orange Lake if you like. Just let me know and I will send it to your email address. For a 5-year old, Splash Lagoon in the North Village is a good choice. OLCC is a large resort so expect to either use the onsite transportaion (pick up about every 20 minutes) or a car. This seems to apply to all sections of the resort so if you're lucky, you will be next to the pool complex where you can walk but be prepared to use some form of transportation.

My understanding is that River Island is scheduled to open in the March/April timeframe. Enjoy your vacation.

Thanks, Gary. I have PM'd you with my e-mail address.

lawgs--even with having to pay the guest certificate fee, we are still paying under $550 for a week's stay in a 2-bedroom villa at the end of May. I think that is a great price considering we will have a kitchen, washer and dryer, etc. I might get a rate like this if I Pricelined a hotel, but it would not give me the amenities of the villa. All said, I'm pretty happy with the price. I paid $229 for a week in a 1-bedroom at Vistana Resort last October, now THAT was a deal.

Thanks for all the info on OLCC.
lawgs, have a wonderful time on your vacation to OLOO next week!
i can't wait to hear all about it when you return.

Thanks for the map, Gary. Just got it! OLCC is a lot bigger than I realized.

Hope you and your family have a wonderful holdiay at OLCC. And thank you for the RCI info.
Gary, thank you for the map.

I will be staying at orange lake this June through owner referal we ahve 7 nights 7 days 2 bedroom but I need more days there how does RCI work? thanks Jill

if you know anyone who owns there they have great promos i am not sure if it is ok to post this or not so if not i am sure they will remove it but i got my family 3 nights 4 days for 166.13 total this is for a 2 bedroom

HappyLawyer--did you get a "last call" vacation? A couple of us have booked through friends who own at RCI and purchased "extra or bonus" vacations. If you are willing to cut it (kind of) close, then "Last Call" is definitely the way to go. Now all the noritake1 needs to do is find an RCI member who will help purchase it.

last call on RCI are typically 45 days out....

the extra vacations show up for many months ahead, but the costs have soared from the original implimentation of extra vacations.....OLCC has shown up for 495$ for a week, but do not know if they are there now...
