I did booked our flights Dallas DFW to Orlando. We have a four and a half hour lap over time. Has anyone else been crazy enough to do this:confused3. I decided just to do it, as our cruise leaves on the 28th October and we fly out on the 27th from Sydney. If we had of stayed over night in Dallas then we would have to fly out from Dallas the next day and hope for no delays in flights etc. I just thought better to get to Orlando and then sleep and wake up the next day ready for the mickey bus to the Disney Dream:love:. I have booked the hyatt hotel in MCO so when we land we can go straight to our hotel room and sleep sleep sleep! Has anyone else stayed at the Hyatt in Orlando? I thought then at least that way, although we would of been up for 24hrs at least we wont have to rush to get on a plane the next day and risk missing our cruise if for some unknown reason there were plane delays:scared1:.

Yeah I'd do that too. You'll feel run down by the end of it, but at least you'll be on holidays :thumbsup2

Yep, we have done it - we had a comedy of errors which meant we were delayed for an additional 3hours in DFW - (you can see my TR for the full story- should be at the start), so didnt end getting to MCO till midnight or so - then we headed straight to Disney so didnt get to our beds until 2:30am - it was exhausting -

But I wouldnt take any chances with a cruise leaving the next day.! I think doing the cruise first is the best way to adjust - hopefully there is some sea days where you can sleep all day if you want!

I agree! That is what I would do too, in those circumstances. You'll be done in when you arrive, but you can sleep easy knowing you are only about an hour or so from the pier!
It's amazing how you can revitalise when you are on holidays!! :thumbsup2

Thanks guys so I am not crazy after all. Battymum I hope we don't have those issues...I only allowed four and half ours between flights. As I booked direct with AA not through Qantas as it would of cost me an extra 3 thousand to do so I wouldn't be able to get a flight change without paying for it I think. Two different AA customer service people from AA have told me different things about that. However I am sure travel insurance would most likely re-pay if we needed to. I will have a sigh of relief when we get on that plane to MCO and land!

you're young..you'll live..:thumbsup2

we are old and now need at least a 12 hr layover to nap, shower and swim

:thumbsup2 Good choice I wouldn't want to risk a flight on the day your cruise leaves. It actually sounds worse than it is i think hopefully you will get some sleep on the plane.

they recommend you don't fly in the same day as your cruise.....and your at the airport anyway, so you may as well just kick thru.....

I would if the DH didnt tantrum like a 4 yr old after 14 hrs being pent up in an aluminium cylinder :rotfl2:he needs a nap, some food and some space:3dglasses

Yeah I know I just have to be ready for the 5yr old melt downs along the way! Kinda like your hubby as you say Karen too funny.

We have done it straight to NYC rather than Orlando. For me, I'd much prefer just to keep going so I get there. I think you will be glad you did it this way.

You will be fine. It is a long haul, but no different than the Europe run. I think as long as the second flight is the short one, you can cope. You might want to look into a frequent flyer lounge pass for the Dallas stop. Nothing like a hot shower and a comfy chair after the first leg....

we are doing the exact same thing.... we're flying bne - lax on 23rd nov, then 4 hr layover in lax, then lax - mco via msy, we're supposed to arrive in mco around 8pm, and then we check into hyatt mco on 23rd, and go straight onto our cruise on 24th nov for 7 nights :)

It is not something I'm keen on doing. I'm like Karens DH and need a BED and SHOWER before I can even contemplate hopping on another plane.

I stayed at the Hyatt MCO recently. It is in need of an update if you ask me. It just feels a little old. Nothing wrong with it though. It does the job and the staff were very friendly. Perfect for your needs.

We'll be doing similar when we go, MEL-LAX, 2 hour stop then LAX-MCO, I just wanna get there, if anybody has a meltdown it might be me :rotfl:
At MCO staying at the airport for one night then Hilton Bonnet Creek for 3 nights :dance3:

The boys will sleep, I may not, but so what, we have 3 days to regroup before we get on The Fantasy :yay:

I just had a look at your trip report mum from oz. The dream looks great now I am even more excited! Just a quick question....if you had your time over would you of booked something for Nassau? Or just stay onboard? I am at such odds with that one. Also did you dress up for the shows and dinner. Some people in their photos seem very dressed up, I would rather go casual?!

At least you have three days to re-group becpee we have none...the next day we are on that cruise. Oh well I am sure the excitement of disney will keep us going I hope!

I thought about buying a AA day ticket to their lounge but its only a four and half hour lap over. Do you think by the time we get outa customs etc we will be waiting for long...oh a nice shower and comfy chair I would love it:love:

Can you lay down in the AA lounge and how does it work with boarding the plane? Do you board from the lounge or walk back to the gate area:confused3 What if we feel asleep:scared1: Do they still call the flights out on a speaker so you know what is going on. I am seriously thinking about it for $75 I think it may be money well spent. Even if it means having a shower there so that when we land in MCO we can go straight to bed!
