I Booked AAA Rate Myself With CRO..Is That Ok?

Ok you AAA experts, here's a question for you...

I booked a nine night stay at the CBR at regular rack rate. Then we joined AAA, so I knew I could get a discount. I had been told that you had to have a AAA travel agent book your stay for you so that you could get the discount.

I called CRO because I needed to know if I was going to need to cancel my first reservation in order for AAA to make one for me. The CM said, "nope, we can use that same reservation and just apply the discount for you". She checked to see if there were any AAA discounts available, came back on the phone and said "how would you like to save $300?" YAY :cool1:

Now I'm wondering though...is that going to be ok once we get there? AAA said they needed to be the ones making the reservation in order for the discount to apply. Help?!

If you are booking a room ONLY (not a package) then CRO can and does book the room and apply the AAA discount for you. I've done this myself a few times.

From what I've read, if you wanted a package, it's supposed to be done through AAA. However, keep in mind that (from my own experience today talking to AAA), they (AAA) don't discount the whole package, only the room portion anyway.

Hope this helps :)

Whew!! Thank you!!

It was the room only deal that I wanted. I talked to my local AAA office about package deals and the price they gave me was more than if I booked it myself at full price!

Thanks again..I was hoping I didn't do something that was gonna cause problems once we get to Disney.

We always book a AAA discount room through CRO.

We never do packages, so we always go straight through CRO anyway.

I just saved $300 off our trip in April by applying the AAA discount. :cool1:

Is there a limit to the number of rooms that can be booked using AAA discount? Could I use my AAA discount on my Dolphin reservation and my friends Pop discount for the exact same dates???

You do not need to book through AAA, in order to receive Disney discounts (if the AAA travel agent tells anyone this, it is only to discourage the customer from booking directly). AAA Travel only receives a commission payment when they book the travel arrangements.

We have done this the last two times. Just call CRO and apply the AAA discount to our room only ressie. I'm not a big fan of packages.

Just make sure you have your AAA card at check-in to present if asked (which I believe they will).

Congrats on saving $$$ :rockband: !

Thanks so much guys!! My local AAA office is kinda :crazy2:, so it's not all that shocking that I received wrong information from them.

I just didn't want to get to check in and have them tell me I needed to book through AAA.

I made a HUGE note to myself to make sure I remember my card! Thanks again!! :flower3:

just wondering- how much does a AAA cost? How much is the discount, say in mid-July?

Different AAA clubs vary in membership costs - in central Indiana, it's about $65/year I think.

For mid-July, it's considered regular season - usually up to 10% off at the Disney Deluxe and Home-Away-From-Home resorts, or 15% off at the Value and Moderate resorts and the Ft. Wilderness campsites.

I really like the benefits AAA gives. I usually order 2 trip-tiks online per year, and they have lots of local discounts. Not to mention the auto club that has saved me due to flat tires or keys locked in car.

Here is a link to the Mousesavers site with information about the AAA discounts: http://www.mousesavers.com/disneyresorts.html#AAA
I think the cost of a AAA membership varies from state to state. We pay $50 a year here in Oklahoma. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Our membership here in PA was $54 per year. Really a great deal! We are saving that much on the car rental alone! Then we are saving on our Disney costs, plus we get 10% off at Margaritaville :cool1:

It has more than paid for itself already, not to mention the actual coverage for towing, flat tires, etc.

like i posted on another thread-be careful about the discount. know the
full price ahead of time. dont be afraid to challenge them.
once they got it straightened out-i saved 608.00 on bwi concierge deluxe room.
they dont discount the package but i am more than happy with my savings & it's nice to know once i pay everything in full i have the room i want, the tickets i want & my dining plan.
i use aaa alot-from flats to towing the membership pays for itself the first time you use road service. their vacation guides are great & we use them alll the time for travel to pick hotels & restaurants.
the triptik was perfect for our drive to disney from nj. we only stay at hampton inns on the way down & the map helps when calling 800 hampton to book a room when you have no idea where you are.

:cool1: :cool1:
I have been reading these threads and maybe my brain hasn't recovered from the holidays but your abbreviations kinda throw me.. Is there a guideline as to what all the abbreviations mean.. What is CRO? There have been others but I am trying to make up my mind as to where we will stay and as I read these threads I just don't get some of the abbreviations.. I do appreciate all the help everyone has given to us amatures dealing with these vacation plans.. I too am planning on doing the AAA room only reservation..

  Hey gingermommy94
Thanks so much I will check that out..Where in NW PA, I'm from Clarion...

CRO stands for Central Reservations Office. I think their official name has changed but CRO is still widely used.

There is a link somewhere to what all the abbreviations mean but I can't find it now!...
