There are a few short weeks before our next planned WDW trip. So, I better get started on my tie-dye shirts.
I purchased a pack of tshirts and today I washed them and hung them to dry. I always rinse my shirts before I dye them. I am going to do a few things differently this time. First, I need to finish gathering supplies. I need to stop for soda ash and silk thread. New this time, I will be soaking the shirts in soda ash before dying. I've never done this step before, but I thought the colors may be more vibrant. Also, I've used detal floss in the past to gather the Mickey heads. This time I am going to see if there is a difference when using silk thread. Maybe the outline of the head will be sharper. And I will trace on the Mickey head with washable marker.
Before, I used a pencil. The colors I had stock piled in my closet are: red, black, yellow, green, purple, I think pink, and a mystery dark color. It could be another purple or blue. I guess I'll find out when I mix it.
Here are a few of the shirts I did last year.
The front.
The back.
