I've been dealing with this since my son was about 5. He has always been the youngest and sometimes shortest in his class. He just turned 8 and is in 3rd grade but is still a little "young and innocent" and he loves to play imaginary games. In Kindergarten some days he would just walk around with a pencil pretending he was Harry Potter.
Last night he told me that the kids at school tease him because he's short, because he likes to play imaginary games and most of all because he believes that Mickey Mouse is real. He asked me if Mickey was real or just some Joe Blow in a costume. I told him that yes the characters are people dressed up in costume but that the real Mickey lives in your heart and if you believe, then of course he is real. His response....a passionate "I don't care what they say Mommy, I believe in him!"
A child after my own heart and a Magical Disney Moment right at home...
