With interest rates rising and the prices of housing skyrocketing I withdraw the sale of my house. For what I can sell this I can't get something that is just as good as I have and being single I can't afford anything higher. I guess even though I'm not nuts about where I am I will count my blessings that I own a house on my own. have a safe weekend and enjoy your fouth. :D

Gail~ the house prices here in MA are insane!! You've probably made a good decision...maybe the house prices will ome down somewhat and it may be more worth your while to look then. :)

I think you've made the right decision too!
Many people tend to get in over their heads with mortgages and end up with nothing. I always say go modest, and pay it off. There are so many upgrades you can do to houses these days, over time you'll have the perfect house!
I bet you feel relieved with your decision?

I too just backed out of buying a house. The back out cost me some money, but in the long run I think I made the right decision. Although with both interest rates and home prices rising, I don't see me ever owning now. I'll guess I just have to stay contented in my cardboard box.

Gail - I know where you're coming from. DH and I were just about to put an offer in on a house and we decided against it. It was a LOT more money than our current house, and we do love our current house. We have a very low mortgage here, and the thought getting a mortgage for 750k was mind boggeling for us. For now, we're staying put and hopefully housing prices will come down a bit with the rising interest rates.

I was in Wally World the other day they had these really cute lil color your own playhouse kits,, nice fancy lil card board boxes,, ya might check there:)

Gail, I can see where i would not want to buy now either, we are three years into a 14 yr mortgage, and will probably stay pout and build where we are after we pay it off. by that time We will own 6 lots ouot of 12 on the street soo we will have say over neighbor hood,,lol ( my grandmother and dad own three now, we own another three)

I think you did the right thing. For the last year or so, I've wanted to sell my house and move up the *nicer* county. Right now, I can make a ton of money on my house. But the little shack just up the road is so out of line on the price, I just think it's a bad move. My opinion is that as the interest rates slowly start to bump up, the demand for housing is going to drop a bit. I think the prices will finally level out or maybe even come down a bit. I just didn't want to get stuck buying a house that was at the absolute TOPS of its market value. I'd rather wait until things drop a bit, and I think they will.

wow, after 2 days I got an offer, there were almost 10 grand shot but I got an offer, I could of made be bucks but I had no where to go, there people wanted the house for a steal, sorry, I built this house 14 yrs ago and love my house, not the town or neighborhood but for what is out there I will learn to love it. :D

ITA we live in Western Mass and have been trying to buy a house for nearly two years now. The prices are so ridiculous; what people are getting for crappy houses that need another $30,000 in work. And the ones that don't need the work are so far out of our price range.

Very hard to make the jump from one home to another

We are 20 miles North of Boston and believe me we would love to go from the Standard Cape We have to a Colonial , But have not been able to make the Jump from one level to the next ..

The market has been interesting to say the least. I loved my house in FL, but I got tired of being there after 15 years. Sold my home in March to a guy that wanted just what I had. A realtor called me and asked if he could show it. Bingo! Had a signed contract by10:30 the next morning! Timing stunk!! I withdrew from the college and took DS out of school to move to another state. Had 3 weeks in a hotel before finally buying. I do love this place although it's a bit smaller. But with the market, homes were going the same day they were listed. And here they were selling for more than the listing price! I lucked out. My realtor heard of this one before it was even on the market. After I had signed everything, she told me that after the seller had verbally agreed and things got rolling, another potential buyer offered her $10,000 more!! She said she already sold it. :teeth: I was hoping to finish the school year and move this summer, but when you have a buyer, you can't quite refuse!! I more than doubled what I paid for my home down there. :teeth: Good luck!
