I am trying to have a comprehensive budget.

Thank you for reminding me. I need to talk to husband about this option so it isn't a day of decisions. We don't plan to cruise again within 2 years however may feel differently after the experience.
If you can spare the $250 cost, buying a placeholder is reasonable even if you’re not sure you’ll use it, since the deposit is fully refundable if you determine you definitely won’t cruise again with DCL before it expires.

You can bring your own snorkeling gear, at least I know it's allowed on CC, I assume it's the same for LP.
I got free snorkeling gear in my local Buy Nothing. Even if you need to check a bigger suitcase that might be cheaper than renting.

Definitely can bring your own snorkeling gear. You just have to pick up a snorkel vest from where they rent the gear. I don’t believe they charge for that. Lookout has more waves that what castaway normally has. It’s the Atlantic and there’s no barrier like there is on castaway.

We have our own gear that we bring. They require that you wear a vest for safety reasons. That way the guards can more easily see you in the water. You are not required to blow the vest up however might be a good idea for the little ones. There is no charge for the use of the vest at least we were not charged this past November.
