I am totally dreading making ADRs on Sunday!

Thanks for explaining the "new system" to us...well me!

OH, so check this out. They can now put in what you want and it shows if it is available on another day if it isn't available on the day you want...that is COOL! I have always wished it would do that and now it will.

For example, I asked for May 29th for lunch and she told me no lunches that day, but they did have May 31st for lunch. With them taking the information on your travel dates, it is going to show the whole time you are there for them!! Woohoo

That is an excellent addition! :goodvibes

I called this morning with no problems...making ADRS past May 26th...at first i got an agent that couldn't do it on her system, she just transferred me to another agent (no waiting). I made all my ADRS (probably 10) and then at the end she took my cc for the prepaid ones and then gave me all the confirmations numbers in order (calling back to me the details of the ressies).

I did have a calendar with all my times/places (and 2nd choices...didn't need them) organized on it.

Don't be scared. Everything was fine, completely seemless.
I think it will be fabulous when they get all the restaurants on the 90 day program.

You were lucky to have a CM who could transfer you to the right place. :)

I called at 7AM sharp and was incorrectly transferred twice. By the time I was transferred to the correct place it was 7:40 and it was 9:00 before a CM took my call. But I did get all my ADRs except one. Restaurant Marrakesh had no availability 94 days out. I'm guessing something is not right in the system for that location. I did get everything else I wanted within 15 minutes of when I wanted, though.

That is exactly why they came up with this new system. Too many people were making double bookings making it impossible for others to get some restaurant reservations. A lot of people were being shut out by people doing this.

OK, not to start a rant here, but they sorta created that problem when they started the DDP and the 180 day booking thing. The real problem was with people who didn't call & cancel what they didn't want. I never would've double booked if they'd have held some seating back for people who wanted to book closer to their travel dates. That 180 day thing for ADR's was absurd. Not everybody books their trips that far out - so then if they booked within 2 or 3 months there wouldn't be any dining ressies left for things like Fantasmic etc. I also find it hard to decide where I'm going to be and what time I want to eat 5 or 6 months ahead. How silly. Do you plan your meals like that at home? No. I think the 90 day rule will help some people be able to decide what they want & when.

I also never didn't cancel a ressie. I always called days or weeks ahead to cancel. I was never just a no show. Sometimes for instance I would book Fantasmic packages on 2 different days of our stay so I could wait & see what the weather forecast was etc. I'd rather go to Fantasmic on a day with a 20% chance of rain than a day with 80% chance. Is that wrong? If I'm not going to Fantasmic on that 80% day then I might want to dine in Epcot instead. Now I can't do that because I can't have two reservations. Before, I would've dined somewhere on both nights, but now they will get less of my money bcuz I will eat more CS meals instead.

I refuse to plan my entire trip around "gotta leave the park by 5:15 so we can be back to the room to shower & change at 6:00 so we can get a bus at 7:15 so we can be at blah, blah by 8:15". That is just no way to vacation for us. DH hates being on a schedule. We will likely only plan about 2, maybe 3 TS meals for a whole week if we can't have choices any more.

Sorry Stacy May, that can be frustrating, especially when you are half asleep!.....i think you're right about Mark., that doesn't seem correct for that to be booked up 94 days out! Call back on that one!

I just wish the park hours for June would hurry up....our trip is May/June so it's difficult to plan ADRs with no park hours/fantasmic dates....and it's getting harder to guess these things with all the changes going on!

Good Luck getting Mark...i think you will!

I am so aggravated right now. They are telling me that my reservation is corrupted and they cannot bring it up on the dining screen and they won't let me make my +10 dining reservations. I could make it for my 90 day exactly.

They did verify that I do have a reservation and the money is on it and all is fine with it on that end.

I don't know what to do. One of the restaurants we want to book is Ohana and they always book up quickly leaving only the 9pm reservation slots. The others are the Pirate cruise at the GF and the Bibbidi Boutique at the MK

Anyone have any pointers or ideas of how I can get them to let me make my +10 ADR's?

That was me too, got CRT, Norway, 1900 Park Fare, but no Sci Fi????

I didn't have any trouble at all making 7 ADRs without having to make any changes. I had a spreadhseet of where our group of three wanted to eat and what time, a second and third choice (for both place - at the same park or resort area - and time) and had only a few minutes wait getting through for our vacation May 17-23. Didn't need the spread sheet but I was so apprehensive about having to make so many reservations that I super planned. I must say however, that I didn't pick the really difficult places such as CRT and Le Cellier as we aren't interested in those. Also, we try and eat our TS at an off time such as 4:30 or really late (for us) such as 8:30 or for breakfast as early as possible (such as the first one available).
You do need the reservation number if you are booking the 90+10 days.

That makes sense- but what about a 4pm and 9pm? People can't eat 5hrs apart??? (I was thinkng more like sleep in after a late night- have late breakfast, eat lunch at 4 and dinner at 9? Doesn't sound unreasonable to me!) I could see not allowing them to be really close/same time- but not even 5hrs apart?

4pm and 9pm are both considered dinner hours and probably why it won't allow it. If they did lunch, which normally ends at 2:30 or 3pm at most restaurants you can probably do 3pm and 9pm

I do have one but with their new system that begins with ADR's for May 26th and later myy reservation number seems to be causing problems everytime they try and bring it up on the dining screen and they can't make the ADR's for me

Okay assuming we're not talking about the same restaurant- you really can't eat 5hrs apart? That's interesting- we usually do. (even at home) Weird.

Okay so you could say eat at 2pm and 7pm -because they consider that two different meals (lunch/dinner) but 4pm and 9pm is a no-no? LOL :lmao:

The reason is to help avoid multiple bookings for each meal, breakfast, lunch, dinner. Etc. It has nothing to do with how far apart the meals are. The lunch hours are usually 11am or 12pm until 2:30, 3pm or 3:30pm.

You can eat at 2pm and 5pm if you wish since they would be considered lunch and dinner

There were so many double bookings of restaurants for the same day / same general time that a lot of people were shut out of restaurants and then all of a sudden either the restaurants had a lot of no shows or people cancelled last minute, the considerate ones ;)

My absolutely wonderful AAA travel agent is making all of mine for me next Wednesday Mar. 5th. I have never had anyone make them but after all the problems I've read about here on the DIS I'm sure glad I have someone to do it for me this trip!!! Who has 2 hours to sit on hold I ask you? :scared1: With my luck I would be one of those that had to wait that long no doubt about it!!

So how would this work if you have a bigger group and you want to eat at different places? There will be seven of us going, but one night is my sister & brother inlaw's anniversary. They are planning on a nice romantic dinner (without us and our kids!) Does that mean the rest of us are stuck with CS? (my sister is VERY resistant to doing any booking for herself, so I'm stuck with all of the planning. I can't see her calling to book a seperate reservation outside of our planned ADR's)

I have that same concern. We are planning a large family vacation in a Grand Villa...3 families. We will not be eating all our meals together...but we can't have ADRS at different restaurants because all 3 families are booked under one Grand Villa reservations????

I am sure there will be a way to do this but because the system is new I don't think anyone has encountered that yet I am sure that someone will come along soon with an answer or you can call Disney dining and find out
