I am soooo sad right now

I know this is pathetic, but you guys will understand.

I had been planning a road trip next year... through Colorodo, to Sequioa National park, to Disneyland and their 50th birthday, to the Grand Canyon... and amazing trip of a lifetime.

however...

I am going back to school to be a teacher, and because of earlier STUPID, STUPID credit card debt, we have yet to buy our first house.

I finally saw the light and said that we should focus on getting a home next year...(still don't know if we will be able to, because of school loans) so I decided to cancel our trip....

Now, I just read through, and posted on the "What's your most magical Disney Moment?" and I find myself crying and very depressed, because I am in love with Disney and I don't know when we will go back, and I had dreamed and dreamed of our trip next year.... and now we aren't going...:(

I know the house is important, I am just really bummed and sad right now.:( :(

WDW and DL will be there for a long time. Focus one what you want most now, and then, when you have the extra money, WDW will be waiting for you. :)

I know how you feel because my wife and I sufferred through the same things when we first got married. But if you plan things out, work hard, and focus on the positive things in your life, you will not only feel better but actually reach your goals.

Something we do to help us focus on future trips is to keep a Disney Bear. It is actually an old clear plastic cookie jar that we use as a piggy bank with a sign on it that says, "Feed me money. I want to go to Disney!". Everytime we drop some change or a dollar into the bear, we feel we are closer to our next magical trip. It helps us focus on the future happiness we will enjoy.

A wise man once told me that if you have problems that can be solved with money, you are a very lucky person. I hope you feel better and don't sweat the small stuff!

Take care,
Rob

thanks guys, those are really kind words, and wise words. I really like the idea of the Disney bear. I think I will have to make one!

Well said, EsmeraldaX.
And, Princess Vija, you came to the right place to express your sadness--I'm sure nearly every one of us here can understand how you're feeling. Hugs to you.

Congratulations on becoming a teacher, and on your soon-to-be-bought new home! :)

I think you did what you needed to do, and that's respectable. Once you get your house, you can plan all kinds of trips. Just visit with us on the DIS or any website, watch tapes, and your time will come!

I think it's wonderful you are putting your priorities in order and doing what right! Good luck on everything!!

Sometimes its hard to do what's necessary, isn't it?

Thanks guys, I feel better already. I just have to set my goal to buy our home next year. No excuses, just do it. And then I can plan our 15 year anniversary cruise! ;)

You are so doing the right thing! But it is also hard to be an adult sometimes, isn't it? But think of this--you'll have lots of places to put Disney stuff--maybe even have a Disney room!

I almost always have a trip in the planning stage, because I enjoy planning, but many times I have had to cancel or reschedule due to life. It is hard, but you have a good cry and maybe some chocolate, and keep on dreaming about that next possible trip!

Best thoughts!

Gee..I'm such a baby... that quote "If you have problems that can be solved with money, you're a very lucky person" made me cry!
That's the majority of my issues right now...but I'm planning Disney anyways!!! LOL
If you're disciplined enough to go for the house, you're much better than me...do it!! Sadly, I"m turning 30 and still renting, due to stupid debt from being younger too... Gimme a year, I'll get the house.. (after Disney in Feb) LMAO!!

I feel for you. We went through the same thing... had to cut back severely in order to be able to afford to buy our house. I also had to take a year off of finishing my grad degree to throw together enough of a down payment because prices were escallating wildly. You WILL go on vacation again (see my countdown, I didn't think I'd ever get to plan again!) and it will be sooo nice coming home to your own HOUSE. Keep your eye on the prize, it's soooo worth it!

My DH and I skipped WDW for years in order to get our lives on track and to build this house. I was so sad as well and dreamed of my childhood trips to Disney thinking how much easier it was to be a kid w/ no responsibilities. When we were able to go, every few yrs or so, I would plan a year in advance and make 3 PS's a day to "get everything in" cuz I knew it would be a long time before we'd get back. We ate so much, we'd actually feel ill.... Just like puppies trying to do too much. I even fainted in the BW hallways from too much planning, stress, and heat stroke.

We now have that house, very little debt, and 2 kids. And after 16 yrs together and lots of hard work and sacrifice, we can now visit WDW once a year through our DVC plan. I can tell you, it was well worth the wait and sacrifices we made.

So hang in there and think long-term and you'll get through this. You are doing the right thing. And your future self will be so happy you made these difficult choices and sacrifices now to plan for a better future. My present self is very appreciative of my past self.

I hope these posts give you the strength to do what's best for your family, even if it is sometimes no fun. :D

::yes::

Hmmm...Any thoughts on buying a house or building a house in Orlando? :teeth: That is if you can find a teaching job there. Wouldn't that be nice? Just hang in there. Mickey will be waiting for you. ::MickeyMo
