I am so sad tonight

Tomorrow morning my beloved pony Dusty, whom I have been leasing from his owner for just under 3 years, is being taken away from me or rather "reclaimed" by his owner. Dusty has been a faithful and loving member of my family and very important part of our "staff" as he has taught MANY students (Almost all beginners) how to ride with his saintly disposition and endless patience. He has also been a trusty partner to many of our Special Olympic athletes on our equestrian team (having safely carried many mentally and physically challenged athletes to victory in dozens of competitions, and was even named our state's "horse of the year for 2005"). SO you see...losing Dusty is simply devastating to me both personally, and to my riding students who also love him and trust the heck out of him, and to my special olympians who depend on him to take care of them (and naturally, to my business).

He was "on loan" to us these past several years by his very gracious owner. And we never had any formal contract as to how long his stay with us would be (I always knew it would end some day). He is the type of pony who will be dang near impossible to replace (likely why his owner wants him back...). My heart is breaking tonight thinking about having to see his empty stall tomorrow or listen to my other horses whinnying for their "missing" pal (my horses are practically attached at the hip...ALL of them!)

So tonight, I am very sad. DIS, send some pixie dust my way that perhaps some day maybe Dusty finds his way back to my barn, or at least gets to live out a full and happy life somewhere nice (and that maybe I am able to find a nice, dependable, lovable, pony that I can trust like I trusted Dusty to fill his incredibly small, but BIG, shoes).

Having to part with an animal you've grown to love is never easy, I feel for you. Hope your day is ok tomorrow - we're here if you want a shoulder to cry on. :grouphug:

Thank you all in advance. I spent the evening earlier giving him the best grooming ever. Clipping his whiskers etc...he looks like a million bucks. I miss him already. I know many of you think it doesn't compare, but it feels like I've raised a foster child and suddenly have to give him back.

:grouphug:

Is he being sold, or will you be allowed to visit him?

Sending you pixie dust so that you can get through tomorrow. I can only imagine how hard this will be. :wizard:

As someone else said....we are here for you. :grouphug:

I'm sorry. It's amazing how pets/animals endear themselves to us, isn't it?

hey :( , I only like sad ending in movies

 My son Christian rode horses at a therapeutic riding barn for several years. I know how close you can get to those wonderful animals. Here's to Dusty :cheer2: and to you for being his faithful friend. I pray God will heal your broken heart

{{{HUGS}}} sweetie. I know that this is a difficult time for you. It is so difficult to surrender an animal that you have grown to love.
