I did the Pittsburgh ALS walk at the Pittsburgh Zoo today. I was so tired after walking through the entire zoo. There is a lot of uphill at the zoo, but still. It let me know I really need to work out to get ready for my trip in December. there are 2 of the cutest 2 month old elephants you have ever seen. I am uploading the pictures I took and will add them as soon as they are finished. Definitely going to stick to the gym and WW. Lost 5 lbs this week.

Great job on the 5 pounds!

I know how hard it is. I am 16 down and have been working out and dieting for 3 months.

I started by wanting to get into shape for my DW vacation next month and not wanting to look fat in pics. I started walking 4 times a week for 30-40 minutes and watching what I eat. Just went on a diet counting calories ( the old fashion diet ) and cut out extra alcohol and desserts. ( but still allow myself some if they fit into my calories for the day. ( 1200-1500 )

Keep up the great work!

You've inspired me, Kim...going to the gym RIGHT NOW!

My shape is ROUND!
;)

Yeah, but only in the middle, and you can lose THAT bulge in a few hours!!! No fair. I'm round all over, and it's gonna take a lot more than one trip to the gym to fix that! But hey, one workout at a time...:scared:

You think you are out of shape?!?!? I just went roller skating at my nephew's 9th birthday party. My thighs are gonna be so sore tomorrow.

Of course my poor little nephew fell and broke his arm 30 minutes into the party. :guilty: Poor thing just got a cast off the other arm a month ago. Some birthday, huh? On a good note though - the cake was very tasty!!!! :rolleyes1

I couldn't tolerate too much Theme park time these past two weeks. Between being way out of shape and feeling my skin sizzle the minute I went outdoors, we didn't go on many attractions.

What happens to me is that my shins start to scream "slow down fat lady" when I try to walk too fast. This is also around the same time that I realize I left the Advil in our room. :sad2:

Tonya, we must have posted at the same time and I didn't see that your nephew broke his arm. The poor little guy!!

I can walk for days but everything sort of giggles. It is NOT a pretty site. I really need to loose this baby weight ( 3 years later  )

Great job on the 5lbs. my mom has lost 24 and my sister has lost 26 (her 10% goal!) on WW. They are both doing so great on it and our 09 trip is part of their motivation.

what cute little (relative!) elephants! We recently lost one of our two elephants at the Dallas Zoo and now there is a big controversy over whether to move the other elephant and if so, where to (since they are social and can't really be alone long term).

I was reading somewhere that for each lb you lose, it takes 4 lbs of pressure off your knees.

I am 5 lbs in to losing 35.......

Our herd has at least 7 counting the new babies. These are the second set of babies born here. I do know that at one time the bull from our herd was loaned to AK and he is the father of several of the babies there.

I understand! I have a trick to get you past the initial pain and discomfort. I dangle a Snickers bar to a piece of rope and have it hang about 10 inches from my face. Get's me moving every time. ;)

Those baby elephants are adorable!!!

Tonya ~ sorry your nephew broke his arm. I guess it's a birthday he'll never forget!

As far as weight loss...I've already mentioned to many of you that the best strategy for me was just taking things one step at a time -- literally. I have walked off 50 lbs. It took me almost a year and a half to do it, but I'm so glad I did! It doesn't take an expensive gym membership, or a bunch of special food, just cut back on fats/sugar where you can and get out there and walk, walk, walk.

(Sorry if I'm starting to sound like a broken record, but this is the best I've looked and felt in a really long time and I would love to be able to help others do it too!)

:rotfl: Years ago, I was biking 80 miles with a group of friends and my Dh was the SAG (takes a care so we could have prearranged snack/drink stops). At one point about half was into the ride, he drives by with a cold beer tied to a pole stuck out the window. He drove in front of us for a few miles; needless to say we all had a great laugh and our fatiqued muscles were ignored for awhile. :rotfl:

chirurgeon, I forgot to say congrats on the loss. If you don't already know over on the WISH boards under the EVENTS heading there are a group of walkers/runners supporting each other. They're a great group and can really help with motivation.
